Halfords Autocentre York (Layerthorpe)

Went there for my MOT. Received a friendly welcome checking my car in. Was kept informed and up to date every step of the way. When it came to collect I got a good rundown of the outcome and next steps and it was all done in a timely and effective manner. Highly recommended!

I want to say a huge thank you to the lovely lady who works on reception and also the rest of the team. My engine light came on a few hours before I needed to drive a long distance for something very important. They told me to bring it in immediately and checked it out, all sorted and drama over within half an hour. Couldn't believe how accommodating and kind they were. Very lucky to have this as my local garage, would highly recommend them.

Absolute amateurs.Quoted me 2-3 times the actual price of the job and parts.Took it to a family run garage who did it for a fraction of the price.Quite disgusting to be honest .Mechanics obviously unskilled

Eric and staff went above and beyond to repair my car, explaining faults, suggesting action and keeping me informed sometimes twice daily on progress. I cannot thank them enough for all their care and attention

Why book a time slot when you can't be fitted in I booked for 10 am and tyre was changed at 11.15 job done quickly but wasted time

I called halfords layerthorpe this morning at 8am, hoping they could fit me in on a Saturday at short notice as my check engine light came on yesterday afternoon. Eric dealt with me on the phone and at the shop and was lovely, and the receipt says Peter worked on the car and was great too, both seemed really knowledgable and like they knew what they were doing. They managed to fit me in and get the car fixed before lunch which was amazing, especially given its a mk1 seat leon so I assumed it could be a pain given its age. It needed new glow plugs, and they found it needed a new ball joint after I mentioned it was creaking so those were replaced, they also conducted a free brake check and put in a new reverse light for me as mine had gone :) they do offer payment plans, I was lucky enough to be able to pay in full but that's definitely a plus for emergency or expensive work that's unexpected.100% recommend and I'll be using them going foward.Thanks guys!

I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my MOT. Now Mike has retired, Erin is at the helm. She is lovely and so personable. Thanks to the team - no time is wasted. I was greeted by name on arrival by Erin and the mechanic was ready to take my car keys. 40 minutes was the slot. The location is perfect either for catching a bus or for cyclingI note that there is a review from me 4 years ago so could this now be deleted?

Had both sidelights changed for under £20 including bulbs. Very quick service while I waited. The person at reception was very pleasant. No complaints. I had less luck at the Halfords on foss island, where they didn't seem to know what they were doing, so I would use the Layerthorpe shop again.

I had no idea about this place but in desperation for a tyre repair I called the shop as everywhere else seemed to be booked up. The customer service was brilliant. The young lady on the desk was really switched on and helped me figure out what the issue was with my tyre. The technicians were quick and solved the problem for me so I could get back on the road. Thank you so much to the team, a great service that I will certainly use again.
