What I had to witness this week has shocked me to my core , my daughter-in-law going through such unnecessary pain and suffering whilst in labour has left me so angry, if your labour wards are full make sure that the ward you have to leave these poor woman on is fully staffed and equipt to deal with labour I won't go into what your ward put her through on here but your ward manager will be hearing all about it in great detail once we've digested it all ..I've had 3 children of my own and I've never seen anything like this labour can be the hardest thing the most pain most women have to deal with but with the right care we endure and we can make it through without to much trauma, I know everything that went on because we slept in our cars outside for 4 days because my son wasn't allowed on the ward at night even though his wife was in labour and you didn't have room on the labour ward..... For those of us who've been in labour paracetamol doesn't quit cut it when your waters have gone not having access to gas and air wasn't great either safe to say that's the half of it ....in a state of shock doesn't quite cover it this shouldn't be happening what the hell has happened to our NHS.....

Second birth there three weeks ago. Induced so whole stay was one week as three days to get labour to transition. Staff were wonderful, each shift change was another lovely midwife, I have high blood pressure so was high risk hence the induction. All staff were friendly and chatty. My labour was monitored closely as I kept getting so far and tailing off with second (first was a whirlwind of induction kicking in and baby out 18 hours later!). Second took a hormone pessary, two hormone gels and a sweep to get labour far enough!Once I transitioned it was crazy fast. Hit 5cm and they packed me straight up to go to birthing room as they felt I would suddenly move fast once tipped over edge. No midwives available on night shift as all with a delivery when i went up so the one caring for me on labour ward said 'dont worry, I'm staying with you, you've got me for it all' once I was hooked up to pain meds it was ten mins before pushing and then 6mins of pushing for baby to come out!!unfortunately baby came out at such speed she caused a third degree tear (she hadn't been staying engaged at all during labour but suddenly decided down and out was the way to go without properly positioning and 6 mins didn't give a whole lot of time to change her!). Anyway, a surgeon was on hand straight away to come see me and reassure me he would fix me up so after a cuddle baby hubby took over so I could be taken to theatre for a spinal block and stitching up.Every single staff member, midwives, surgeon, anaesthetist, nurses, all of them! Were just lovely. All available to help I'd you needed anything and all friendly with it.I had a rough time the next night with cluster feeding' (bearing in mind I expressed colostrum from week 37 so knew I was producing) baby had been syringe fed loads of colostrum while I was in surgery and had latched successfully through the day but overnight she cluster fed for 6hrs solid! Breasts were ran dry, I was beyond exhausted after three days in labour then a traumatic birth on night 4 and now night 5 still no sleep but the midwives and nursery nurse were amazing. They offered to take her for an hour and then, entirely my choice, they could either just cuddle her while I had hour sleep and let breasts top up or they could syringe some formula (syringe so not to cause confusion with nipple and bottle) just to fill her up so when she wakes I'd be rested and she wouldn't be ravenous allowing us to calmly continue our breastfeeding journey.. I took them up on that option as I simply couldn't bear the thought of baby being hungry while we gave my body a chance to catch up. It worked perfectly, she took 15ml of formula and slept for two hours. Now, nearly three weeks old and I'm producing more milk than needed, she is breastfeeding beautifully and my stitches are healing nicely.I genuinely can't speak highly enough of the care I received and the attitude of the staff. They wouldn't have judged me either way on sticking with breast feeding, agreeing to some formula or switching entirely to formula. They were simply there to reassure me nothing was wrong and there are options available to me now and going forwards and they would help me with whatever I chose.Freshly postpartum is exhausting and emotionally a vulnerable time so the care and support of singleton staff was appreciated more than I'm sure they'll realise!

No proper treatment to patient unless they are in their worst case. I have been through a lot since my baby due date was on oct 1st 2023 but they kept on holding. And started by induction for 7days on and off from 9th to 15th of oct giving reason of low staff and no labor ward vacant. And on my 15th past due date after my 4cm contraction they told be to go another hospital for delivery as they can’t break my water again their lame excuse no staff and all. But I refuse because the hospital was very far at “Merthyrtydfil prince charles hospital. I said “I don’t want to travel that far at this stage what if something happens on my way there and one of the staff said “I’ll be fine as I seemed fine”. How cruel is that. No humanity at all. And by that same evening I had my water broke but my little baby poo in my worm. They didn’t know baby poo until my water broke. As they said monitoring can see whats going on. But no they didn’t know. As I was post due date they should have scanned me time and again to keep both of us healthy. I had to go to 9hours labor and emergency c-section afterwords nobody can understand what pain I had been through. And even now I am at hospital after delivery after realising something is not right with my c-section wound and waiting for 6hours for doctor no any response. And asking frequently to the staff about doctor visit same lame excuse very busy and priority to emergency patient. Is it that we have to be half dead to be treated in this singleton hospital?

My partner was admitted to ward 12 with infections besides his cancer. The staff on ward were excellent until the discharging. Waited 4 and a half hrs for medication to take home only to learn dr had not sent prescription down to pharmacy. Had to wait for a hand written prescription to get from our own chemist. Had to ask for a discharge paper. No in formation given to own dr to change dressing where he had a fall on ward. Have had to sort all this myself. He was supposed to be transferred to Withybush but no beds so sent him home for me to look after him instead. Not happy.
