Canterbury East

Great idea putting the ticket machine in a locked booking hall, then advising it cannot be accessed before 6am. In fact it cannot be accessed before 7.30 on a Sunday. The perfect tonic, having already had a wasted journey to Dover station where the machine was broken. No one can accuse South Eastern railways of not living up to their reputation.

Canterbury East is walking distance from the City centre, a Pumpkin Cafe is on site, taxis are normally available on the rank and there is a car park five minutes walk away. They could make more of an effort with secure cycle parking, particularly as the station is frequently without a visible staff presence. Generally clean and tidy, including the waiting rooms and toilets.

Ticket Barriers are often open in the early mornings which is great! Other than that the waiting room has a heater on when it was one of the hottest days of the year and staff seemed grumpy. Regular trains going to London tho

Good station. Toilets need to be opened later but the site is clean and easy to use.

Ticket office doesnt appear to be manned according the hours stated.

Step free access to both platforms via separate entrances or by using lifts on the platforms.Toilets on platform 2.

It mostly doesn't matter much if you r getting down in Canterbury East or Canterbury West station...All the destinations will be walkable..

Canterbury is a gorgeous historic city which doesn’t deserve such a shambolic train station! Train station lacks facilities, but the main issue here is the staff, to target younger, more vulnerable people with £60 fines. Sean was relaxed about letting most people out of the station, except for teenagers as he saw these as a target and a good way of halving their bank accounts. He asked me and my brother ridiculous questions and made what was an excellent day a rather average one. Southeastern uses teenagers for their revenue! Sort it out!
