Such a shame, the beauty of ruins were ruined by people climbing the walls just to take a picture and young kids no older than 14 smoking pot filling the air with the smell of skunk! And the older part of the ruins being fenced off. It's free to walk round and glas we did.

Due to henry the 8th this is a ruin but theres a lot of room for imagination. The info boards are very informative and it’s a really good place to chill and walk your dog during the day. A small car park here and for those by public transport it’s close to thetford station.

This is a free entry English heritage site . It is a large site with an interesting and sinister history there were several murders on this site and it was also one of the last priorys in England to be suppressed by Henry VII because it was under the protection of the Duke of Norfolk who was a powerful and respected man . Wonderful quiet site to walk on your own with family or walk your dog around , plenty to see and lots of information boards scattered about the site . Well worth a visit if you are in or near Thetford ,

It's surprising to find a site this size free, there are information boards but no guide book available on the website considering its an important site. There is a small carpark but the brown signs disappear after a bit. Seems the local kids hang out here and there is litter kicking about. Must of been something in its day and there is still a fair bit to explore

Thetford Priory is located at Water Ln, Thetford IP24 1BB. The castle remains its original outlook and worth visiting. The scale of remaining structures are described clearly at scene.

Very nice place to visit, small car park available and the site is well maintained. There are also several notice board to tell you about what your seeing. So for a free place to visit it is well worth a stop. The lost star is for the fact you can't access the old gate house as mentioned on the signs as it's through a private garden and the gate was locked. I did email both the council and English Heritage about this but both ignored me.

For me this site of ruins was great to explore. Not much interpretation, just a few boards and labels in some rooms saying cellar etc. Mainly you need your imagination and good weather to enjoy these. They cover an extensive area,There is a free car park, but no other facilities on site. You can walk into Thetford though for such things.

Old 15 century ruin (priory/ monk monastery) that had many different changes to it until it's fall by king Henry.Fair amount of land with plenty of information dotted about in most of the rooms/ areas. The area and information is a modest amount not being too much or long but still enough to be enjoyable and see. It took me about an hour so you can easily rush or take your time. Unfortunately a few graffiti and rubbish as well as the gatehouse being closed off during this time (currently 27th of September) but still enjoyable.Overall a must see, especially as it won't take much time if you don't want it to.
