Sleaford Household Waste Recycling Centre

I was very disappointed as I checked the website on the 1st May 2020 which stated it was open. There was no other information. I had been adhering to the social distancing & lockdown advice throughout keeping myself busy at home completing DIY & gardening jobs. When I had gone out recently to shop for essentials I had noticed some fly tipping in the country lanes. I watched the news & CV19 updates on a daily basis & was relieved to hear the Health Secretary announce that the government had advised the local authorities to re-open their tips. I had accumulated a lot of rubbish & wanted to dispose of it in a responsible way. I loaded my trailer yesterday having checked your website & drove approximately 8 miles only to find it closed. I spoke with the female employee in the office in the adjacent waste site who informed me that it had been closed due to the public not using it sensibly. I challenged this statement as it is the council should manage this as many shops & other services have done. I suggested that you could have a system that allows one person/vehicle at a time. Can you please ensure that your website is updated & consider opening in a safe & responsible way to enable the public to dispose of their waste. It is positive for the public to keep themselves busy at this time to prevent mental health & physical difficulties therefore we all need to pull together to get through these hallenging times. Thank you.

Staff are very helpful, can't fault them, unlike the design of the site, appalling, an utter shambles, people queueing to leave being stuck behind people unloading, leading to traffic backed up down Pride Parkway.

Enjoy being watched by member of staff sitting in old computer chair. This is probably the most unhelpful recycling centre around staff as a rule are lazy and unwilling to help

Rubbish, excuse the pun, I had a permit for my van and they wouldn't let me unload as my roof rack put my van above the height restrictions, I now have a van with a sofa and mattress in that I can't get rid of, it's no wonder I've seen evidence of fly tipping around the countryside when I've been out walking, the council need to get this draconian attitude attended to. We are responsible recyclers and are now faced with paying for a skip and causing a huge carbon footprint for waste that could have been disposed of responsibly this morning, shame on the council!!

Well organised, very well managed. Works at present on a booking system so opening at 9am I go for one of the 9-9.15 slots. Staff very helpful too which is a bonus.

Well organised and easy to get rid of stuff. Dropped two stars because the opening hours are inconvenient, it’s closed for two days of the working week and 9-4 is when I’m at work. It’s usually pretty busy due to the opening hours.

Drove 10 miles with 10 old concrete blocks just to be told they’re not accepting any concrete or brick rubble at the moment , told him I had drove 10 miles for this but wouldn’t let me tip them. If they’re not accepting a certain thing they should put it on their website, save people coming all the way out there for nothing. Really unprofessional and very frustrating.,

Visit here weekly... bin collections right... never enough of them.Anyway. Staff here are great. Usually smiles and happy to guide you to the correct bins.Never had any help or any offered but luckily never needed it.Appears to allow most things here.No tyres though...Opening time there's always a que.Give it 30minutes after and the que is gone.Open Friday to Tuesday.
