The Crown Hotel

Stayed here some years ago and it was nice then but it appears to have had some work done in the interim and is absolutely beautiful now. We just called in for a drink and the standards of decor and cleanliness are outstanding. Service is good too and the beer is great. We shall be back to enjoy the wonderful environment and atmosphere at the Crown.

Unable to judge the rooms as I didn't stay, instead I visited for drink and some dinner. Although the food was great (compliments to the chef) the service was fairly poor. Drinks nowhere to be found and food orders from the bar were far too complicated for staff to handle.

Went with a friend for coffee and a cake. It has recently been refurbished. Very nice lounge which was very popular with the more mature age group. We had a very nice coffee and delicious Millionaire’s Shortbread. There is a very nice atmosphere. I would recommend.

Staff were particularly friendly and helpful, and great facilities...lovely to have a swim and sauna before eating a lovely meal.Also manu regulars who have gone for years ...and keep going backGreat location too to explore the surrounding towns and attractions...Knaresborough and Fountains Abbey to name but 2...Would happily stay again

This is an hotel full of character. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean but ours was a little small; comfortable though. The food was excellent. There are many relaxing areas to take tea" if you don't fancy sitting in the bar. A very nice place to stay."

We've had drinks here on three occasions now. Inside in the bar area, outside and now in the restaurant area. The bar area is well decorated and warm and friendly. The service was excellent with really helpful bar staff. We ordered snacks such as chips and a salad the previous time we visited and found the food to be brilliant. Good portion sizes and really tasty. I'd definitely recommend the truffles fries.We finally ate properly last night. We had booked a table for 6 but we had drinks in the bar first. We were told that we could move to our table whenever we wanted so we took our time and then ordered. We ordered a selection of starters and mains, the highlights being the Ox cheek and the burger!Special shout-out to the assistant manager on that night, he was just really friendly and helpful.We live local so we'll pop in whenever we can but when we host family and friends we'll be sure to take them here.

Lovely hotel full of character drinks and coffee fine. Decided to have Sunday lunch very disappointing.Roast potatoes hard so called rump of beef not proper slices scraggy bits wafer thin bought in like this.Poor bits of veg too. The yorkshire pudding was a good size but overcooked not good.For the price and the lovely hotel we expected better quality.One final point staff were friendly and polite but dress wise would be nice to see a shirt and tie also the young ladies foot wear big clumpy dirty trainers.Not a good impression for a lovely classy hotel.

Perfect place to stay.Amazing staff, breakfast, surroundings.Very clean room, great shower, and value for money.Can't wait to go back.

Lovely hotel, from the welcome on arrival by the receptionist, to the fantastic food, attentive staff, great spa facilities, and comfortable beds.We couldn't fault this place and would recommend it. We intend on booking again.Lord & Lady McKie
