I was a patient at the day surgical procedure unit yesterday and I cannot thank each and every member of the amazing staff there for the care and kindness they showed me. I felt totally safe and looked after. I would like to say a particular thank you to my surgeon, Mr Bhalpoori and the amazing anaesthetist (Dan I think?) as he really made sure I was calm and reassured throughout. I'm so grateful to everyone, thank you.

I visit a specialist nurse (Robyn Lynch) for regular checks flowing surgery. The service is thorough, friendly and very professional. I gave birth to my son and had two major surgeries at Sunderland Royal and all experiences have been first class. I couldn’t have asked for better care! Thank you.

I have visited the hospital's ER in May 2023 with a suspected kidney stone (later confirmed). The waiting time was extensive. Only one male toilet for the whole ER which was continuously occupied by a gentleman with GI track issues. He really looked in pain so I will surely not blame him for this. The other two toilets both faulty. It was hard to give the urine sample. The doctor seemed very concerned about me and treated me with respect. I got the CT scan shortly after seeing the doctor but I was surprised to be sent home. The stone is still there I believe after 2 months as the pain continuous. You can clearly see the staff wants to do the right thing but are limited by the poor management of the NHS.

Recently attended the Endoscopy Unit for a gastroscopy and colonoscopy. First class treatment from all the staff which made an anxious time much better. Friendly, helpful and efficient from the reception to the Doctor who performed the procedure. Every nurse and nursing assistant absolutely lovely. If you have these procedures I highly recommend this unit and all the staff.

I had surgery at the Dermatology Department on the 19/10/23 the staff on this department are fantasic. It was my seventh surgery and I am now used to the routine, from entering the department the clerical staff are helpful and very pleasant , then on to the medical team they are first class put you at ease. The only problem is the parking, could the hospital managment allow a few parking bays for patients who are having day surgery, the stress of trying to park is greater than the surgery you are about to have. regards June Waterstreet.

I broke my ankle in two places on Sunday, I can not thank the staff at the hospital enough. From the young guy who put me on gas and air while he reset my ankle to all of the nurses porters and surgeons who took care of me. The NHS really is the jewel in our crown and everyone in this hospital are amazing.

Worst hospital ever my mums been in and out of there for the last 2 years this last month she’s been in and their just leaving her there not trying to figure out what’s wrong leaving her to sit in her own urine. When I eventually get hold of a doctor or get a call back they say they don’t know what’s wrong with her. She’s just been getting worse in there with no help she isn’t eating in there or taking her tablets properly yet say she can make up her own mind when she’s been highly confused everytime I see her , keeps repeating herself and hallucinating she’s completely changed in there
