We visited yesterday to have our son’s tongue tie assessed. The appointment was efficient and I have noticed a difference in how he is feeding within the first 24 hours. I would highly recommend this clinic for any tongue tie concerns.

I’ve visited Manchester Lactation Consultants with both my babies to have a tongue tie assessment and division.With my first baby I was reassured by Fiona and Tara’s professionalism and sure that I was doing the right thing but I felt a bit lost during the appointment. The division resulted in improved latching and enabled us to have a long and happy breastfeeding relationship, but it was difficult and frustrating to establish breastfeeding and to navigate how to access support for different issues related to the tongue tie (oversupply, mastitis, nipple damage etc) so I didn’t reflect back on the tongue tie division that positively.I am so glad that I did go to see them again with my second baby though! Having experienced feeding difficulties and a tongue tied baby before I felt much more confident going to have my second baby assessed and his tie cut. Again they were reassuring and professional, asked lots of questions to get a full picture of how feeding was going, they explained everything, gave me opportunity to ask questions, carried out the division and supported me to latch and feed my baby afterwards. I had plenty of time to feed in the appointment, they checked we could feed on both sides comfortably and made sure I was confident to continue practicing latching baby at home and that I had access to information and knew how to get support if needed. They also helped as I changed a rather explosive nappy (and an outfit) which really put me at ease.I would always recommend having a tongue tie assessed privately, and I would definitely recommend Manchester Lactation Consultants to anyone in the area. I’m not confident that the NHS is always able to provide adequate feeding support (they’re amazing and they need better funding!) I was told my second baby didn’t have a tongue tie but he did and the difference feeding after the division is huge. I’m so thankful to Fiona for her expertise and professionalism and thoroughness in enabling me to breastfeed both my babies.

Although this clinic was recommended, I would advise not to attend. The staff members were rude and obnoxious which made this appointment very unpleasant. They didn't want to take the time to assess and listen to my babies feeding history and it just felt like they wanted the money more than actually caring for their patients. When I advised that I wanted to seek support from my husband on the phone the staff member said 'Why is he medically trained' which was extremely disappointing to hear. After the tongue tie procedure was completed, they then wanted to know her feeding history and what she is 'normally like' even though this information was available to them beforehand which was dismissed. As I was feeding our daughter after the procedure another member of staff came in the room and started changing the rubbish bins. Extremely disappointed in manchester lactation and wouldn't recommend their services.

Amazing! So professional and friendly. Fixed my babies feeding issue by advising to change bottles to a more suitable brand. He does have a very slight tongue tie but they recommended the bottle change first. They could have done the TT and charged us but didn't. Couldn't recommend them enough. Thank you all so much, we now have a happy baby

I have used Manchester Lactation Consultants twice now for both of my children and I cannot thank them enough for their support.Tara initially provided my support with my first child when I was struggling with his latch. She is knowledgeable, empathetic and couldn't do enough to ensure that I got off to the best start with Breastfeeding. With Tara's support I was able to continue to exclusively breastfeed without the need to top up with formula which was my priority.After the birth of my daughter I again struggled with a comfortable latch so I visited the clinic for support. Tara quickly identified she had a tongue tie and after talking me through my options I decided to go ahead with the procedure to cut the tongue tie. I felt reassured throughout the whole process and have not had any problems since. I am still exclusively breastfeeding my daughter and probably would have given up if I hadn't had the support from the clinic.Thank you again for your help.

I had a great experience with the ladies at the clinic, who gave me great advice on feeding, colic & reflux. They asked a number of specific questions and I felt the consultation was really thorough. They were clear about the possible outcomes of the procedure so I felt equipped to make an informed choice.

Couldn’t recommend a more expert and caring service.I am so sorry it’s taken me so long to write this review but I approached Manchester Lactation Consultants at one of the most emotional times in my life, and they helped me more than anyone could have at this time.Firstly they listened fully to my concerns that my little boy had a tongue tie. After previously being told that I was making it up (because of my medical background), I had ended up with mastitis 4 times, an abscess and then sepsis with a week hospital stay and a surgical drain on an abscess.My incredible breast feeding support worker had recommended I come here to get a second opinion. From the moment we were seen, I was told my baby boy had a big tongue tie, and the immediate relief I felt whilst feeding as soon as he had it divided, was incredible.My only regret is that I didn’t seek help from them sooner. If anyone is breast feeding, and finding things just aren’t right, reading this wondering if you could improve things for the better, the answer is yes.Despite all the problems I had, it’s because of you both that I was able to continue to feed my boy for so long. He is now 14 months old and absolutely thriving!Thank you for everything you did for us, for going above and beyond, listening and genuinely caring. I will certainly be back if we have anymore babies for your help.

Huge thanks to Manchester Lactation Consultants - they fitted us in quickly for a tongue tie assessment when our son was just a few days old and helped us establish breastfeeding. A few months on when looking to transition to combination feeding, they provided valuable support (getting back to me the same day as my query and out of hours) as we struggled with certain aspects and resulting hormonal imbalances. They were extremely professional, but also kind and supportive of me as a new mum.

Fiona was very prompt in responding to my enquiry to get some urgently needed support with breastfeeding my twins. She was able to arrange to come to the house on the same day and took the time to find out about our situation and how she could help. Her support enabled me to become more confident with tandem feeding and ensuring babies were latching correctly aswell as putting an achievable plan in place to increase my supply. Fiona put me at ease straight away and made an appointment I’d felt nervous about very comfortable. No question seemed to daft and she worked with me to come up with a plan that was realistic to help improve our situation. Fiona was also able to identify tongue tie in both my boys which at a later date was sorted at the clinic. She took the time to explain the procedure carefully to me and help me reach the right decision whether to go ahead or not. Having the tongue ties sorted has improved feeding for both my boys and I am so glad that we got it done and very grateful for the support we received.
