Plymouth Ballroom Dance Lessons

For the past seven months, my wife and I have really enjoyed our Wednesday evening dance classes at Woolwell. As complete beginners, we were a bit apprehensive about learning loads of new dance steps across the whole spectrum of ballroom and Latin. However, within weeks we were able to get around the floor relatively well, impressing friends and family with our new moves. I recommend it: it’s excellent for the brain as well as your physical fitness, and the dance instructors are very good and friendly.

After a good ten years of trying to persuade my husband to take dancing lessons he finally agreed - and now, nine months later, we both love our dance lessons. The main team at the Woolwell centre (Vickie, Andy, Chloe, Adam) make you feel welcome, and we get the visits from the other instructors so there always seem to be enough instructors around to help when we need it.We started as absolute beginners where the team helped us with getting the basics right. As we have progressed, so the instructions we have been given have changed. So, although we are still in a beginner group, we still feel that we are progressing. The instructors change their focus depending on ability. For instance, at the start, it was more about the steps, and as we have got to grips with the basics, we had the rise and fall introduced. Further on, it is slight corrections to the hold and hand positions and new steps and turns etc. Overall, we have a lot of fun and we feel that learning this new skill has given us a hobby that we both enjoy.The thing I like the most about the dance lessons is that my husband now has the confidence to get up and dance with me! We look forward to when the class at the Woolwell centre restarts in October.

I used to think I had two left feet but the Donahey's team got me dancing. Good music, good exercise and it keeps your brain active.

My wife and I really enjoy our weekly dance class at the Woolwell Centre with the Donaheys team. They are all very friendly and great teachers. It’s great to learn something new and enjoyable..and it’s a good workout too. If you like the idea of learning how to dance would highly recommend you give it a go.
