Great Salsa Night on Wednesday. Good night out on a Friday. Also, I wanted to be the 1000th person to give a rating.

Attended a small.private party upstairs and it was great atmosphere. Canapés were lovely. Drinks were good. Great vegan options.

Visited early Saturday evening for a drink before catching the train (couple of minutes walk to the station). Had a coffee and hubby a pint. Service was fine but as it was early it wasn't busy.

The staff was friendly. Great location, next to the river, nice garden but I'm not impressed by the food.

We had our wedding reception at The Oxford Retreat and had such an amazing time! The staff were all lovely and very helpful and helped make our special day even more special! I would definitely recommend renting upstairs for any events you may have.

Looked like a cute place to grab a bite, but when we sat down it was just not clean. You could see cobwebs in the corners and dust on the lamps which is not that much of an effort to clean. All 3 of us had the fish and chips which wasnt that cheap, so we had high expectations, but the fish was more fried oil than fish. It also seemed like there was no seasoning used what so ever. Side salad didnt make up for it unfortunately as it was very sour due to the vinegar dressing which didnt have a counterpart . Maybe the other dishes were beter, but this didnt do it for us.

Great pub/boozer, lovely friendly staff and great beers to match... large outside covered smoking friendly area and a real huge bonus, it is open late, last orders at 11.45pm (or might be later) so if you miss your train, its just down the road! Lovely stuff! Thank you

The Oxford Retreat
Loved the ambience, the setup, the music, the dance floor, outdoor seating area, the crowd and pretty much everything! I went for the Friday's Latin socials and it was amazing. Would definitely recommend this place on a Friday over all the other clubs and pubs in Oxford. Best part, it's free entry!!

The Oxford Retreat
Nice pub near the train station. Not ridiculously crowded but nice atmosphere. Only 1 veggie option (burger) for main course

This place is really nice, inside and out... until you realise that the whole covered outside area allows smoking, which ruins it for the majority of the population and means that unless you enjoy the acrid stench of cancerous smoke with your drink and food, you have to go inside - and it still wafts through open doors.Food menu is tiny (burger, burger, burger, fish and chips and beef with salad - which was off that day!) and is ok quality; at least it's freshly cooked and reasonably priced.Staff were great though, really friendly and helpful which was a big plus.So if you're a smoker, and happy with keeping to drinks and pub-level grub, then this would be a great place to chill out by the river. If you're not a smoker I'd look elsewhere.
