We only had a meal there but were disapointed. Overpriced and stodgy. Tiny piece of fish in large batter, too many chips, burger overdone and no salad with burger to speak of. Like I remember from the 1970's.

We stayed Bank Holiday weekend, our room smelt of dog, there were doghairs on the chair and the carpet was badly stained, fresh pillowcases but bedding looked very crumpled, my husband was unwell so went straight to sleep on top of the bed, it wasn't until the following morning when l pulled the covers back l noticed some long dark hairs on the sheet, we both have short white hair, l don't think the sheets had actually been changed! We had intended to eat in the restaurant at night having had a snack there at lunchtime but as we left our room we could smell the deep fat fryers and the restaurant when we got to it was full of blue smoke. They advertised a sports bar but it's door was shut and had a table in front of it. Bill's Bar with the lovely roof terrace and fantastic views wasn't actually a bar either, we presumed you ordered your drinks downstairs and carried them up. On the morning we left l intended to complain but the receptionist was having deep conversation with another member of staff and completely ignored me so in the end l leftthe ketpy card and walked out, a shame as l loved the building and the room we were given actually overlooked the rooms l worked in for 15 years when it was AUWE.

Faulty TowersStayed for one night in September. On arrival we were greeted at reception with friendly staff, checked in and directed to our room on the first floor. On existing the lift we had two chefs shouting at each other with f'ing and the other telling him that the punters would hear him.The room was OK, a little on the small side and the windows were small and high up so you had to be around 6ft to be able to see out of them (not that the view was any good). The overall appearance of the hotel was that it was an old MOD building that had been converted but the surroundings were still very MOD looking. That evening we had booked a table in the restaurant for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived we found that an Elvis tribute act was setting up and doing sound checks in readiness for his gig that evening. The next morning we got up and had a shower only to find gapping holes in one of the thread bare towels. Now I don't moan about things in general and I have stayed in some rough hotels over the years whilst a worked around the country and will put up with most things but this was an expensive hotel that I had booked for my wife and I but unfortunately it was like a 2 star pretending to be a 4 star.I did hold off putting a review on here as I did not want to make a knee jerk review whilst still feeling hard done by. I did however feel that I should put a review on so others can read my opinion and make their own informed decision. You never know it may have changed.

The staff were sarcastic... not entirely sure if that was their sense of humour, or a bad day at the office... either way this happened from 3 different members of staff at different points... make of that what you will. The evening food service was painfully slow... but the food was excellent. The same can be said for breakfast...barring the service because it was self serve. The building itself..... i felt like i got catfished a little. The pictures definitely looked far better than the reality. Nothing dramatically wrong... photos were a 8, turned up to the date and was greeted by a 4.Location was beautiful. Nice walks and fields all around. Finally rooms.... if the rooms had a job they would be an accountant. Plain simple done their job (soz to all the accountants)...but had no character...also no fridge or A/C.

Waited to be seated. Given one menu between the three of us. Waited again to have a drinks order taken. Asked for no ice in two drinks, but ice arrived in one. Ordered starters and mains. Starters arrived, and the portion size of the mussels was small, to say the least. 14 mussels in shells ,£8.50. I am a little disappointed, especially when other tables seemed to have larger portions. Main courses arrived and looked like children's portions. Single chicken fillet in very small bun and few chips. Cod, chips, and ordinary peas (should have been mushy). Lamb shank shepherd's pie. It sounded great, but 8 to 10 small chunks of meat and carrots topped with mashed potato. Although tasted nice, not very hot and served with cold green veg. Table cleared, no mention of 'How was your meal', and then waited for dessert menu for at least 45 minutes but did not arrive. Had no dessert, so I can not comment on them. Had to go to the bar to pay the bill. Not given a bill, just the price shouted across the bar. Paid bill and had to ask for a copy of the bill. This is the first negative review I have given. I am happy to pay a decent amount for a meal if it is value for money, but today, I left feeling hungry.

Only a one night stay. Which was enough. Room clean. Bed comfy. Breakfast disorganised. Plates no eggs. Eggs no plates. Glasses no juice. Then juice no glasses etc etc.Just one girl on hand trying her best. Views amazing. But hotel will only ever look like ex AWE building..which it was. Reception very friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel it's all bit Shining as you drive up but the rooms lovely, bed is comfortable and the roof top terrace is gorgeous. We had a great meal in the restaurant and took a sunset walk along the cliffs. First breakfast was great second was a bit of a greasy buffet style but they made scrambled eggs when asked. My main gripe would be the rooms are only serviced if you request it. Reception could mention that on booking in.

We only had dinner there for our pre anniversary treat.. was shocked it took an hour to get our meal. I had salmon.. roasted asparagus & saute pots I asked for the sauce separate but it was smudged on the plate it was ok but not hot! My husband had beef stroganoff it looked liked a dogs dinner & it was cold. They did replace the meal with the garlic bread as we never got it the first time! We were not charged thankfully for it but very disappointed!
