I never ate out and ordered a burger until I visited Hide Burger Bar... the burgers are delicious, exciting and always have lots of choice. The setting is chilled with a funky vibe and the customer service is outstanding. The location is perfect for either a quick snack on your way home from shopping or a planned night out with friends or family. I have been well and truly converted and would highly recommend to everyone!

Went here out of chance, looks a bit too posh for us but we took the chance. The venue itself looks beautiful, old fashioned with a modern touch, we were greeted well, waited downstairs had drinks then given menus. The choice on the menu is not very varied but was fine. We were then taken upstairs to our table, was fine no issues and good view. The cod cheeks were a real favourite. The food was lovely and the waiter was fine too. No issues at all price was very reasonable, overall great experience well done. Just one issue its hidden away so getting to it is not the easiest.

Having dined here many times due to the service, food and atmosphere I was surprised to see some of the negative remarks so made the effort to see what all the fuss was about. As I guessed it was nothing to worry about, let’s face it who would book a meal and not get any confirmation or even call themselves before turning up....... Anyway food spot on and service perfect even though they were full so glad people didn’t shy away due to some negative reviews. My view is until you try something yourself it may or maybe not be for you. The staff work ultra hard especially how the restaurant is laid out. Looking forward to our next visit

Have been for dinner and to a wedding here. First and foremost the food is good, and the conversion of the chapel to a restaurant makes for a really interesting setting, and one that provides a pleasant environment both to dine upstairs and in the bar downstairs. However, the staff let it down. Firstly the wedding was at 2.30pm, and Masa did not open up until 2.10pm on a bitterly cold December afternoon. This may change as the registrar mentioned that this is not acceptable practice for a licenced wedding venue. The woman who did finally open up and was in charge is hardly the friendly front of house face that makes you want to come back and book again, and the service is not quite slow, but certainly isn't efficient. This maybe due to the restrictions of movement caused by the layout upstairs, but if you're not in a rush, it's just about bearable. However, service at the bar was excrutiatingly slow. For a wedding of 75 people they started with one person behind the bar, and then later added a second. This made things slightly better, but if this was a pub I'd have gone elsewhere. The service/staff issues are a shame as this could be a really good restaurant. The food is very good, and prices are high end for Derby, but if the service matched the food, it would be good value. Derby needs a good restaurant of this type and this could be it with just a few simple improvements.

Went there as me and my partner decided to try something new. The place is a converted old chapel, the inside and outside was lovely and gorgeous. The staff were really welcoming and kind!Really high quality ware you used (plates, cutlery, ascetics)Unfortunately for most of it ... that's where it ends on good points in short. For the price we paid (over £90 for two meals and a single drink each), as someone who's been to a good few over £90 meal restaurants you either expect for that price either1) - Food that tastes almost as good as it can be madeor2) - Enough food to fill you upUnfortunately Masa failed on both.We had a Starter, main and desert all with an appetiser before each (which we didn't actually know we got, which I'll admit.. they were nice) however every meal was less than 7 small bites of food each.My main alone was chicken breast with 4 small mushrooms and a handful of cali beans and pancetta. I finished the chicken in 5 bites, to put it in perspective all of my meals together doesn't even reach the amount of a starter from most places I have visited to eat. Now, this wasn't any fault of the staff. They were lovely. The place is lovely. The food is .. laid out beautifully.... but the taste was only averagely good.So in my opinion for the price it is, it's not worth the amount of food you get at all I'm afraid.I'd recommend to someone.. but I'd warn them about the amount of food you get.

Superb food and fantastic service. I took my husband here on Boxing Day as a birthday surprise and I am so pleased that I did. A big thank you to the staff for a wonderful meal.

Eaten at Massa twice now and I look forward to going again. The venue is very quirky and cleverly designed. The menu remains selective and uncluttered. The food, both visits, has been excellent; well cooked, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The service is very good and attentive. We were remembered from our first visit and welcomed back on our second visit. Nice touch. A lovely restaurant to seek out if you are in Derby.

Went for my birthday. If you like fine dining this is well worth a visit. I'm new to Derby but this is my favourite place so far. Love the upstairs seating set in a old Chapel. Unique.

We have been to quite a few fine dining restaurants, on this occasion I was seriously not happy. We had booked our table for 19:30 obviously expecting it to take a few hours (as fine dining does) but we weren't even asked if we wanted a drink for the first 35 minutes and then didn't actually get our seat at the table until 20:30. The food was OK but nothing to write home about and the staff looked like they were running around like blue-arsed flies! The wait between course 3 and 4 was another 40 minutes and it was just getting ridiculous at this point. We got overcharged for which we got that rectified but the final nail in the coffin was that one of the waitresses almost threw a spoon at my wife because she couldn't reach over the table properly... Oh and it was meant to be a Harry Potter themed night which was rather dubious if you ask me... Yes the menu was named sort-of Harry Pottery things and yes the staff were wearing Harry Potter related clothing but the decor was sparse and the food or Cocktails didn't look in any way Magical". All in all

Given the prices, this is a fantastic bargain. The 3-course Xmas menu was something like £32, which is just ridiculously good value. The food is good (not great), very well presented and the venue is beautiful and interesting. The staff are friendly and keen but quite inexperienced. In fairness, given the odd (and lovely) layout it's very hard for them to keep an eye on everyone's glasses/plates so be prepared to be a little patient. Worth supporting, I'm sure it will improve and the city dearly needs a good restaurant or two.
