Thornhill Park & Ride
I’ve used this park and ride a number of times, it’s a large facility some miles outside Oxford city centre. At the heart of the park and ride is a small waiting room with toilets, around that are some paved car parking areas and some stone paved areas. To park for 16 hours and get the bus into the city is £4. For 2 persons, the fee is somewhat more.Payment for parking is at machines that accept cards or contactless. As a dyslexic, I found the instructions difficult to follow. As an aside, heading into the city centre, the bus passes the Oxford shark.

Convenient park and ride but a terribly confusing payment system. We bought a ticket to park and ride only later to find we need to add people. If you don’t pay for all passengers at one time the price almost doubled on the bus. This caught us out and some elderly people waiting and we noted many boarding the bus having the same problem. The same was evident in Bath at the Park and Ride yesterday. When will these provide clear information in all the right areas rather than burning peoples money. There are signs but it absolutely isn’t clear and many signs have different information. For those visiting who may read this review when you pay and enter your car registration, ensure you add passengers before completing payment. The car park is large and seems safe and buses run every 15mins into the city. The route takes around ten to fifteen minutes to the city centre.

Huge car park for the park and ride in to Oxford. We went on a Saturday when there was a train strike. There was still plenty of room. The car parking payment machines were quite confusing and we could only buy 2 bus tickets with one car parking space. We bought 2 more on board. Great that you don't have to go back b to put ac ticket on your dashboard as you could be a long way away

Provides a more than adequate facility as a bus/car transfer hub. Warm without being overheated, Utilitarian seating without being comfortable. Updating information without overloading the senses. I didn't try the coffee, although it looked to be warm and freshly brewed to order. Clean loos. Not a place to linger overlong. I guess public phones/call boxes are a thing of the past.

Convenient parking to get to Oxford in a very reasonable pricing. It’s £4 for parking and round trip bus for 1 passenger to Oxford and £5 for two passengers. However the automatic machine doesn’t really have clear instructions regarding the how many passengers you have etc so quite a few people had the same problem that we had (we just chose park and ride then it said £4 without any options about how many passengers you’re having). Then when we paid on board the driver said it’s additional £3 for another passenger. It takes about 30 minutes to Oxford city center. And the bus comes about 15 minutes intervals (for bus 400). The station is clean and there’s a small coffee shop inside.

Functional and clean public toilet. Bus affordable for 2 people to park and get a return to town (£5); machines where you can buy tickets was easy to use and you can pay by card. You don't need to leave the ticket in the car and instead you just need to show it to the bus driver when boarding. There is plenty of car parking space at 3 pm, on a Saturday, a week before the Christmas break. Bus drivers friendly and helpful. Indoor area to wait was useful.

The park and ride is good. The bus not so good. Unlike other cities Oxford doesn’t have a bus lane so you just get stuck in a the same traffic. 45 minutes to do the journey in to Oxford and 50 minutes back. Walking seemed faster at points.

Third time of using Thornhill. Each time the machines couldn’t connect so unable to pay by card. Would not take coins either. Only way is to use the Parking App and pay 20% extra. I see this has been the case for over a year. Inept management obviously and obviates leaving reviews.

Good in parts… not very obvious which bus stop or prices… but basically if you’re travelling into Oxford you need bus stop B… see photos ( C mentions city centre… but it’s only for coaches or buses going away from Oxford). Also if there are more than 2 grown ups in a car, the third person has to pay separately on the bus (£3 return). Therefore The park and ride for 2 adults with one car was £5 for us, plus we paid an extra £3 on the bus for our 18 year old son.It then took 20 to 25 mins to get into the centre as bus seemed to stop as every stop ( not a dedicated bus).

Rather than being a park and ride, where you can easily wizz into Oxford and back, it's now become a car park which happens to have a bus stop. The buses stop at every stop on the way into town, take ages, and are pretty crowded. Not to mention the windows are all open so they are freezing as well.
