What a gem the Crown & Garter is! Lovely quiet location, rooms very comfortable and well appointed, staff friendly and attentive, the food is simply incredible, one of the best meals my wife and I have had in any hotel! Just make sure you leave room for breakfast as that is very good as well! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break, will definitely be returning ourselves!

We had the most amazing Sunday lunch , probably the best ever! For that we give 5☆.On the back of that we thought we'd book a table for our last evening at Inkpen. The reason we dropped 2 stars was: a glass of wine was £11.50, and wasn't that great. Also we don't like a service charge automatically added to our bill, which we know most restaurants do now, but that should be at the customers discretion. The meal for 4 was expensive based on big city prices and although nice, it was not amazing and there were only 3 choices on the dessert menu.. cheese cake, pavlova or cheese and biscuits.. finally a little Jack Russell wandering around sitting at diners feet waiting for scraps... all disappointing after such a great Sunday Roast... we came away feeling disappointed and a bit ripped off""

Absolutely wonderful stay, we have already booked for next year. The rooms are lovely and a great location. The food was excellent and the staff really made it, so friendly. Thank you to everyone for a lovely stay.

Doesn't look much from the outside but once you walk in you see a clean stylish well run pub serving a good choice of wines and ales plus restaurant standard food . 10 ensuite rooms which are not the largest but are clean and serviceable. Great new seating area in the courtyard where the room are which will only get better as it matures . We'll situated for high clere Castle and other local attractions. Will definitely be going back.

Nice place for an overnight stop after a day in Highclere - a bit of a tricky one to find though, nobody's SatNav coped well. Very comfortable rooms with good facilities and nice welcome. Courtyard is a lovely spot for a drink with friends.Downside - I don't mind paying for breakfast separately from the room but any breakfast should include coffee, tea and or juice..they should never be added as overpriced extras

Absolutely stunning rooms, perfectly clean and modern.The food was fresh and delicious but on the slightly more expensive side which for quality was understandable.The service was friendly and helpful however slightly disorganised which added to the experience and wasn't a problem.Would definitely stay again especially in spring or early summer.

What a gem of a stay.Lovely rooms set on a gorgeous cottage garden courtyard.Unfortunately no food available for our first night as restaurant and pub closes at 7 on a Sunday. But meal was nice the next evening.

Three decent Apple fritters on tap, well kept. Staff, although polite are a bunch of yutes and inexperienced at running a boozer, so service a bit tardy. Place is pleasant, clean with covered and heated outside area.
