Sandgate Castle
Not open to the public so you can only walk past to look at it. An old battery fort built during Henry VIII's reign and a couple of later monarchs stayed here/rested for a while.Whoever owns it clearly looks after it as it's very picturesque. I would like to see what its like inside but that's a privilege for those who are close to the owners I suppose.

Sandgate Castle
Very interesting to see Sandgate Castle from the sea path. One of the Device Forts, artillery fortifications built to defend the coast of England and Wales by Henry VIII. A Napoleonic martello tower added later. It is a private home but the owners must love the history as they have replica cannons on specific places and the date is clearly marked 1539.Amazing.

Sandgate Castle
We had an enjoyable walk along the seafront to Sandgate Castle. It was very early in the morning so we were unable to go inside. It was very interesting to see the Martello Tower number 5 which is surrounded by the old castle walls. The views are amazing and there is so much history attached to this building.

The castle is not open to piblic as it is in private use. That’s why you can’t visit the castle however walk around it.
