Had a wonderful time here. Service was excellent.We had booked a table for 6pm and were surprised that when we were arrived the doors seemed to be locked. After applying some pressure we managed to force them open and went inside.The decor inside was nice and had a kind of biblical theme to it which was very cute.There seemed to be no one to greet us so we looked for a table to sit down at while we waited. There didn’t seem to be a table, or any other guests, so we sat in lines on the benches.After 15 minutes no one had appeared so my partner went looking for someone to help. After a good look around she managed to find a elderly lady passing by on the street with a bag of groceries. My partner quickly guessed that she must be the chef and walked her by the arm into the restaurant. She did look very confused, so after a baffling conversation we felt that she didn’t seem in a good enough state to cook so we just cracked open her shopping bag and ate the lot.The tinned rice pudding was delicious when paired with the Eccles cakes and it was washed down with a couple of pints of full fat milk. Compliments to the chef!! Used some of the old books stacked around the place as plates and made ourselves a cheese plate from some Edam and water biscuits.The elderly chef joined us throughout. What a delight.As there was no one, apart from the chef (who seemed far too confused) to pay, we stuffed £100 under a figure of a sad hippy guy and went on our way.Perhaps it may be a little hipster for some people but we just love the eccentricity it offered.10/10 would dine again.
