I decided to share something personal and stand up for myself, I also believe that people should be informed about this kind of behavior and hopefully, slowly, this kind of practice can be ended. About the same time last year I was struggling a lot with mental health and suicidal thoughts. I found the courage to finally get some help and so I went to Meadows Medical Practice. It was a walk of twenty minutes in the winter time, which felt like a long 3 hour walk. When I got to the practice, I immediately addressed the receptionist with the fact that I was having suicidal thoughts and I needed help now. She corrected me by saying that I should 'book' an appointment, and not 'register' for one. I had to go back home and then come back for my time with the doctor. When I did, I told the same fact about suicidal thoughts to the doctor and she basically told me to wait for a letter, and also made fun of me for not being able to put my thoughts into a sentence. I am very good at English, even though I am not a native speaker. But when a person struggles with mental health and is having high anxiety and depression it is only natural that it would be hard for them to speak up. I do not want this to get too long so I am just going to go ahead and finish up my monologue with a few key sentences. Mental health should not be laughed about. It should not be dismissed. People who are dealing with any kind of mental illness and or suicide are worthy of respect and are in need of your help so please do not disregard them. Please value life. Please share and spread awareness.

I've experienced only courtesy and care from the reception staff and the doctor.

Always felt like an inconvenience whenever I went there. And that's when I was lucky enough to have an appointment (8/10 on the phone). However, because I really needed help, I powered through as I did not want to repeat myself to a new GP every time. But the last straw was being removed from the practice for moving one building away from my previous address. No concern for the patient's mental health, no empathy with their stupid rule. No exceptions. It became my problem to register asap somewhere else before my medication ran out. For someone with high anxiety, that was a very fun experience. The receptionists used to be very rude as well, tried to blame me for making appointments when my GP was on holiday. I was told that I had phoned too early previously, then was told I had phone too late as my GP was now on holiday. I replied that I was told to phone a week prior to running out of medication and had no knowledge of my GP's holidays (duh), but the receptionist was saying that somehow it was still my fault. I did not let go until she became nicer. Dont know her name unfortunately.I'm no longer in that practice and would recommend to not remove patients when they move just one building away.

Absolutely awful GP. I was told that I would receive a phone call this morning for an appointment I made last week. Did not get a call and the receptionist’s excuse was that when she tried to call, she was told to “hang up immediately”, even though I have received calls from this GP before. Now I have to wait another week for an important medical appointment, and have been instructed by the receptionist to find a new number for them to call me otherwise I cannot have an appointment. If you are looking for a GP, avoid this one at all costs. Receptionists are poorly trained, inadequate for their jobs and rude. This experience is just one of many horrible experiences.Having said that, the pharmacist has done a lot to help me get what I need in the past despite the receptionists being unwilling to help me with anything.

I don’t really know who’s really seeing this GP. Several times they tell me the next available appointment will be next week or even the week after. And guess what, I will be fine by then. So does it mean I need to foresee that I’m gonna be ill and call them in advance to get the slot???

Dr Gill was constantly dismissive of my partner's health concerns. It was very rude to question her the purpose of having a cough. If he thinks that it is normal to have a cough day and night for 4 weeks and half, why he initially prescribed amoxicillin for 5 days without even seeing her in person first...It is also shocking to hear that one has to have an anaphylactic reaction to get allergy care from a GP. Well, anaphylactic shock requires calling 999.

Firstly, a shout-out to my doctor - doctor McGuinn; who has been doing everything she can go try and help me. I sense her sincerity and true desire to help every time I speak to her, and so I fully trust this doctor. As for the receptionists: I feel they are getting a bit of a hard time on here. Whilst they have always been nice and helpful with me, I would understand and accept that sometimes their job is stressful, especially during these times and wouldn't take it personally when they are having a difficult day... We're all human and in complete disarray with today's problems.

I don’t often go to Gp but I had to this time and I seen Dr Gil omg he was amazing he listened to everything I said and can I say I walked out that surgery knowing he was gonna help me as for reception staff I’ve always found them very friendly and helpful any time I’ve called for anything and if they say I will call you back hand on heart they do I honestly give this surgery 10 out of 10

Free healthcare is a privilege and something that I appreciate more than anything else in this country. But with this 'medical' centre which I was unfortunately a patient of for a number of years, there was no real healthcare to be had. I have not seen a doctor face to face since 2019. I felt like an inconvenience every time I spoke to them. Their sheer incompetence has cost me thousands of pounds after having no option but to go private. I was on a waiting list for years, and when I finally decided to go private, they made me pay for a letter for the doctors' referral note. Once the private assessments came back, they were unhelpful and didn't provide any assistance in getting treated. I am thus still paying monthly for private treatment. When I complained to this practice, I was told 'you are one of thousands of patients'.. Cheers!Pros: Some reception staff have been helpful periodically over 7 years, and I have had some good experiences with particular reception staff. Some visiting doctors have been supportive occasionally. The asthma nurse was helpful.Cons: failure to genuinely provide basic medical care.

As is quite normal now in times of Covid, hospitals have to discharge patients as quickly as possible. I had surgery on 16 June and was discharged on 17 June. The hospital staff were amazing. They all deserve medals. On being discharged I was advised had to have my dressings changed every 3 days. On phoning the surgery the Receptionist (Anne) advised me that one of their nurses was sick amd the other was unavailable on the day I was to have the dressing changed. Anne said she would try and have something arranged. She called me several times and later that day called me again and told me she managed to get a District Nurse to make a home visit, not just for the first visit but for each successive visit. I am most grateful as Anne most certainly went the extra mile as even if I had been given an appointment I would have had difficulty as the surgery was on my foot and at present I have extremely limited mobility. THANK YOU ANNE AND MEADOWS MEDICAL PRACTICE. I SHOULD ADD MY EXPERIENCE OF ALL THE RECEPTIONISTS HAS ALWAYS BEEN PEOPLE WHO CARE ABD ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL.
