My partner booked a room for us for a mini break. The hostel is in a gorgeous location and the hostel and room was very nice, however the manager Gary was a difficult character to deal with and unhelpful and for this reason we would not return. Otherwise, a lovely hostel and great location!

I had a lovely stay at the YHA Swanage, even if it was for one night only. The staff was very welcoming and gave me advice where to have a nice dinner. My room, with an en suite bathroom, was very clean. The building is perfectly located - you can see the ocean. It's just a short walk to the centre of Swanage and the beach, but it's still very calm - I woke up in the morning and heard the birds singing.

Great place to stay with a troop full of scouts. The team looked after us well, serving a late dinner when we arrived in Friday, cooked breakfast and packed lunch each day. We will defiantly be back next year!

Excellent stay. Rob was lovely to chat and really helpful with the tourist attraction tips around the area.Bedrooms are clean, spacious and beds are comfortable.Kitchen fully equipped and plenty of space to seat with a parcial view to the sea.The showers were individual booths, great water pressure, shelves and hooks for your stuff.I stayed on room 8 and the location is not the best as it’s right in front of the main door that access the majority of the other rooms so there is constant noise of doors opening and closing.I missed lockers in the room and the reading lights were too bright and kind of lighted it up the whole room.I will come back to explore more of the Jurassic Coast.Location is good close to the pier and Highstreet but it’s at the top of a steep hill.Parking lot is free and it gets full pretty quickly.

I stayed 3 nights and will be back. It's a short walk to town (up a hill NB) and you can see out over the coast from the upper storey.Breakfast is good value as with all YHAs, rooms are basic but fine and everything is spotless. The lounge deserves special mention with its wood panelling and low lighting making it a very relaxing place - you feel like you have to whisper!Only gripe - food stopped before the advertised 8pm

Myself, my husband and 2 children, 5 & 7 needed somewhere to stay for 1 night in Central Swanage without spending a small fortune! The yha had an ensuite family room available so we thought we'd try it. It was perfect. Walking distance into Swanage town, free parking, a spacious room with 2 sets of bunkbeds and delicious all you can eat breakfast. The kids loved it! The kind man on reception even shared his milk so I could make a cuppa. Very impressed, I expect we'll be back.

Amazing value for the location - only a few minutes away from the town centre, the beach, and the beautiful Perveril Point. The variety of room sizes is perfect for budget-friendly trips with friends and hostel staff are very friendly and happy to help. Obviously you shouldn't expect too much from the rooms themselves - they are exactly what they set out to be: simple, functional, and affordable. Shared kitchen facilities make budget meals a reality that seemed impossible. Cannot recommend YHA enough.(On a different note, don't be put off by the perceived lack of public transport to Swanage - the Purbeck Breezer 50 service from Bournemouth is both efficient and incredibly fun.)

Helpful, friendly staff. Clean, tidy, fully equipped kitchen. Lovely Victorian building with a great view to the distant sea. Large, dedicated onsite parking lot to the end of the facility. Expansive, airy bunkrooms. Laundry/ drying room-always a plus. Just a hills walk down to city centre. Much to see/do in the area. Thomas Hardy country. Enjoyed it so much, I'm returning again tomorrow. Too short a stay only a couple of weeks ago. Highly recommended!

The place was very clean and although basic, it didn't fall short of expectations. Showers were good. Stayed one night before walking the Purbeck Way, good location to the centre of Swanage. Would recommned for a cheaper safe and clean place to stay. Breakfast was pretty good and much better than anticipated.
