It's just a normal car park that you drive around one way. There is quite a bit of space because obviously it is one of the main car parks visitors use to visit Petworth House. It is a pay and display machine car park, so be prepared to pay, or if you're a member of the National Trust, then it is free.It is right next to the main road that on the opposite side has a great kids play park to go to. This is very good as Petworth doesn't seem to have anything for children, so this is quite a handy thing for young families. The car park is also right next to the Visitor Reception area for Petworth and all important toilets. As well as being a visitor reception area, it also seems to double as a shop/garden shop. I'm not sure how that works, but it's there if people want to buy it.

We normally visit this National Trust location just to enjoy walks through the vast deer park, but as the weather turned very cold and damp we decided to check out inside the property. On previous visits most of it has been closed with only a couple of areas accessible for viewing, so check in advance if this is important to you. Also, if visiting the deer park during rutting season, be aware that the stags can get aggressively territorial!

Stunning National Trust location. Try walking around the extensive deer park and lakes, not just the house. So many deer, its quite breathtaking. Easy walking and nice coffee stop by the car park.

An exquisite and strange wonder -- to wander the grounds and home of these seven generations of royals and to have the opportunity view their extraordinary art collection. There are all the great masters from the 14th century onwards, dingy but brilliant, and hung from marble floor to vaulted ceiling: Turner, Gainsborough, Blake, Bosch and so very much more collected or created to honor themselves as the grandest egos of their age. It was a delight to be up close and personal with so many works otherwise only known to myself from the textbooks. Kind volunteers too. A day well spent. Thank you.

Beautiful rural setting leading into Petworth Deer Park. As an N/T member you can park free of charge. Lovely walk to Petworth House past deer herds, lakes and wonderful old oaks. Ideal for a picnic and take in the view. Shame dog owners can keep their pets on leads as requested......but that's dog owners for you!

Easy access to the grounds and house. Always busy and most people just don't park well.

Brilliant NT property and grounds well worth a visit. Largest portrait collection of the NT and houses the first ever globe...amazing.In the grounds by the lake there is an old stone boathouse perfect for a picnic and to sit and watch the birds on the lake. There is also deer parkParking on site for the house and gardens is not a massive area (adequate) and it appears only 1 parking space for larger vehicles ie motorhome etc. But there's also parking for the deer park

We parked here so that we could visit Petworth House. It's about 8-10 minutes walk to the house along a lovely path through the woods. Buggy access is available from the National Trust car park to the house. It's also a convenient spot to park if walking through the parkland.

Beautiful setting in the South Downs National Park, the house and grounds are spectacular. Whether just taking in the gardens adjoining the house itself, or the deer park (amazing views across to the Weald), it’s well worth a visit. Friendly staff and great facilities at the house, too!
