Belford Developments Ltd

We hired Belford Developments Ltd with a fixed price for a rear extension to our bungalow. The build started 23rd June 2019. Over the next 3 months we had workman come and go with no real progress. We could go days and sometimes weeks with no work taking place with Belford Developments Ltd stating they had other jobs they were tied up with, staff holidays, sickness, family bereavement and dismissal of staff. We received an email 16th September to say that more money over what we had agreed was required for the build to be complete, at this stage we had already paid 90% of our agreed price. We have been left with an extension that is not watertight after 4 months. To complete the job we need, floor insulation, concrete floor, relocation of drain, heating, electrics, plaster boarding, plastering, side window, front patio doors, opening up existing house to the extension, block up gap after removal of old patio doors. We have concerns with the work already done, leaking water and hole in the kitchen roof, a hole in the wall opening directly into our lounge, lack of cavity closers, the incorrect damp course on the inner skin, the lack of weep hole vents above the lintels, the incorrect installation of a bonding gutter between the old and new roof and the lack of pointing, sub floor preparation of the extension and on the height of the ground on the external wall of the property. We are currently seeking help from Citizens Advice and Trading Standards.
