Macdonald Cardrona Hotel

Stayed for one night on a spa break. Hotel is lovely and modern and the views over the golf course are stunning. Room was OK, bed was very soft which may not suit everyone. Shower was excellent! Food was very disappointing. On DBB offer and we choose from the main menu. Starters were lovely but main courses were not good. My partner didn't finish his which is unheard of. Breakfast again was not the best. Limited selection of hot items and the usual continental stuff. Mini muffins could have been used to build houses they were so hard and inedible. Potato scones were raw and in the same serving dish as the black pudding which isn't ideal. The spa is amazing. The treatments were lovely with Elemis products. The spa team were so kind and welcoming. Pool was quite cold for the time of year and lots of kids (older) screaming and running about and using the loungers as slides into the pool which made for a less than relaxing experience. Had the food been better it would have been a lovely stay but I can only say it was OK for the amount we paid it was not the Luxury we expected.

Enjoyed my overnight stay. Afternoon Tea was good but didn't like the cake selection. Nice room but not enough lights, and no blind on window as people passing could look in. Pool was nice but lockers in ladies changing room don't work. Would stay here again if there was another special offer.

The golf is amazing but the hotel is very, very poor. I visited here just to play golf and eat. It’s a tale of two halves as the experience of the golf was nothing short of sensational. The guy in the golf shop was an absolute gentleman, informed us of all key parts of the course and advised how to return the buggy when done as the shop would be closed. He was attentive, accommodating and an asset to your company. The hotel however… before we played golf we decided to eat there first before we played as we had arrived early. We walked into the dining area and seen there was a lounge menu at the bar so we decided to order and sit in the bar area. There was nobody at the bar, it seemed empty apart from a subcontractor there to perform a repair on an automated coffee machine. A waitress walked past us at least twice while we waited for some time for someone to help us order some food. The wait was so uncomfortable that the subcontractor said he was going to get someone to help us. He returned stating that someone was on the way. A couple of minutes later and a member of staff from the restaurant came into the bar and went straight to the subcontractor to ask about the coffee machine. The conversation went on for a little while where basically the contractor was saying the machine wasn’t broken (which I firmly believe haha) but the member of staff stated otherwise. After a while their conversation ended and finally, finally he asked how he could help. I asked for a sandwich, fries and drink. My friend unfortunately asked what the soup of the day was and he was told “it’s Borscht”. After a few seconds of the three of us stood in silence as we all processed this, my friend thankfully asked “what?” The reply: “Borscht”. Another few seconds passed. Again, thankfully my friend asked what that was and he was finally told. When our food arrived we were just given the food, no offer of any sauce and we weren’t even given cutlery. My friend, through was given a spoon with his borscht wasn’t provided with a knife to spread butter on his bread until he had to ask. I would have liked some ketchup with my fries. And to top it off we were told when we tried to leave that we hadn’t paid for drinks. The reason for that was when we ordered food and drink at the same time and paid at the end of the order, he hadn’t put the drinks on the bill. He kept it separate. I’m not complaining that we had to pay, it’s just that it’s the most insane experience I’ve ever had from a “high end” hotel. All in all, terrible service for a bar and restaurant. We were first ignored, then the level of service wasn’t to standard. I’ll be back for the golf but there’s not a chance I’d eat or drink there again.

We had an amazing stay arrived very late after we had to cancel our hotel in Peebles last minute due to excessive noise Andy saved the day and allocated us a beautiful room at 2200 hrs in the e evening. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this hotel and Spa, the golf course looks amazing and we will be back in the spring for sure.

Here for a spa day. Treatments excellent, pity no area to really relax as pool very busy. Afternoon tea very nice but no hot drinks included which I was amazed at..as where other visitors. Lockers very poor and many not working and couldn't be opened once locked .

My partner and I had our engagement party here last weekend. We also booked a room for the night.The service we received was outstanding from start to finish and the room was lovely, in fact the whole hotel was.Every member of staff was more than happy to help, doing anything they could to make our time there run smoothly.We also stayed for breakfast - it was a help yourself buffet style breakfast and all food served was brilliant quality and very tasty, especially the bacon and sausages!I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the local area.The gym, pool and facilities were really good too. They have a great set up. We never used the spa service but I've heard great things from others.All in all it was an amazing night for us and we will definitely be back soon!Thanks very much team Cardrona Hotel!

Lovely hotel. Staff friendly.Many residents at the hotel.Noisy during the day.Some noise at night.Food is of very good standard.Kitchen slow at breakfast with toast.Food being thrown out the rooms above.Wet washing being hung outside from room above dripping onto patio below, onto our seats.Spa staff excellent.Cannot claim hotel is luxury given the amount of guests staying at the hotel on this occasion. As a result, ‘quiet’ is another label which I’m unable to attribute as much arguing was heard from other residents. At nearly £300 for a single night, with all the above experience, cannot say it’s good value.

The hotel location and rooms were lovely. Nice pool area too. Only 2 slight issues, one was that our booking for the spa hadn't been placed and 2 of our party had to wait until the next morning before we had our spa treatment. Second issue was that there was no milk for coffees or teas in the evening. The staff that we dealt with were lovely and were very apologetic for the inconvenience but it just seemed a bit disorganised.

Amazing stay from start to finish. The rooms were clean and the staff were absolutely lovely. The receptionist Suzie was so nice and friendly and was so nice to have a chat with her passing through the hotel.The restaurant service was absolutely outstanding by Salim. We had dinner, breakfast and lunch and each time he delivered outstanding customer service.Me and my friend also booked the spa morning and the massage I had was absolutely outstanding. (Can’t remember her name unfortunately) left me feleing so relaxed after it. Thank you for a lovely experience :)
