Gary has been the funeral director for My Dad and very recently My Mum cremation service as well as My mother in law and father in law , he was also the celebrant for Mums service.Gary is proffesional caring and understanding and will be with you every step of the way and is always at the end of the phone to help and guide in any way he can .I am very grateful to him for his wonderful service .Nadine Bishop

Gary has provided me and my family with a unique level of support throughout the process to arrange my husband's funeral. He came to my home to arrange the details, which helped to create a personal relationship with myself and my son, and he was constantly available at all hours to answer the many questions I had. He maintained communication with me throughout, and created a bespoke personal funeral for our family.On the day of the funeral, Gary was very sensitive to our needs, he supported us and explained every step of the day. He gave our family time to reflect, and we did not feel under time pressure at all.Gary also ran our service as our Celebrant, and his words were so relevant and personal, which meant so much to our family.There are not enough words to express how grateful we are to Gary for his support, and also for his care and sensitivity to my son.I would urge anyone who wants a personal, sensitive service for their loved one to contact Gary.

I first met Gary at a funeral of a friend of my wife, I think in 2019, a lady lost her husband, he was immaculately presented , took care of the widow very well at the service, and came across as a friendly and capable guy . I didn't appoint him , my Sister in law did. I believe that Gary was working for a company called Harold White's on Wood Street , Walthamstow at the time. It was a deeply traumatic time, as my brother in law was only 48 when he passed, it was a complete surprise, and he passed on his birthday. I spoke to Gary, when we were struggling to make contact with our preferred venue to hold the wake. Gary just said, don't worry , the guy you need to speak to, I've got his mobile. I'd been trying for 10 days to get through, Gary sorted it in minutes , with no fuss, and this level of service continued throughout our dealings with him. His local experience, knowledge and contacts were all perfect. a lot of people came to the service. Gary wasn't in the slightest bit flustered, he ushered the direct family in first, then anyone with disabilities to ensure they got a seat, before allowing the remainder of the guests in, and then showed us the pallbearers what we needed to do. my Sister in law, got a bit tongue tied, Gary stepped in to help. I think Gary genuinely cared about how the service went, he went over and above his call of duty, and really put himself out.

Gary provided our family a great amount of support through a very difficult process. He helped us every step of the way and was always available to offer help and advice on the options and possibilities. The preparations and funeral for my mum ran like clockwork due mainly to Gary's input and help. I would definitely recommend his services and he's a very straightforward and easy person to deal with. When my brother sadly died in May 2023, we didn’t hesitate but to contact GRC funeral services. Gary had conducted the funeral for friends and we had heard nothing but praise. From the moment we spoke with Gary, the stress and worries regarding the funeral were alleviated. We didn’t have to worry about going to a funeral director’s premises, Gary came to us. We chose the coffin and arranged the entire funeral in the comfort of our home. In the day, there wasn’t a hitch and Gary looked after my elderly mother as if she was his own.Sadly my father died exactly 2 months later and again it was Gary that we called. We wouldn’t have trusted my father to be looked after by anyone else. Again Gary arranged everything, to the letter, as we wanted it. It was so reassuring to use GRC and we cannot recommend him highly enough and would never use anyone else.Thank you Gary for everything you did at the saddest times of our lives.

when my mum sadly passed away in October 2020 we were given Gary's number by my uncle and aunt (mums sister) as they had been friends with him for many years and knew he would look after mums funeral with the respect she deserved. At the time Gary was working at Harold White's and during a very emotional meeting with myself my brother and my dad Gary talked through the whole process from start to finish, everything we needed to know and do and kept in touch in the weeks and days leading up to the sad day we had to say goodbye to mum.The day of the funeral went exactly as planned and was very dignified and respectful and I am sure mum would have said the same. Gary was 100% professional throughout but also added a very personal touch.Sadly my dad passed away in august of this year and from the outset there was no question, we knew we only needed to speak to Gary. As before he was just as professional and attentive although by this point he was no longer with Whites and was now an independent funeral director. This fact didn't deter us, far from it! Gary said he was confident he could do it all for a lower overall cost as he didn't have the overheads that a larger company would incur. Not that it was a concern as we would have paid whatever was necessary to give dad the service he deserved although with the way things are nowadays every little helps.As before we arranged a meeting with Gary and myself my brother and my sister only this time it was at the house and he again talked us through the whole process. He advised us of everything we needed to do and he managed to get the same chapel at the city of London crematorium that we used for mums funeral almost 3 years before. Not only that but he also got the same celebrant (Lynne Herbert) that did mums service as dad thought she did mum proud and we thought it would be a nice touch. Once again Gary was fantastic throughout and as we (myself and my 2 brothers , my nephew my uncle and my sisters partner) were going to be pallbearers for dad, Gary talked us through it and made sure we were comfortable with the tough task. The service was beautiful and gave dad a fitting sendoff although there wasn't a dry eye in the house!I cannot speak highly enough of Gary and the service he provides and would advise anyone facing the same sad situation to consider Gary R Clugston independent family funeral directors.Matthew Clarke

Gary cared for my dad when he passed. My sister and I had never had to arrange a funeral before so to arrange one at the height of our grief was difficult. Gary helped us in every way possible. My dad was treated with the respect he deserved and my sister and I the care we needed. Gary genuinely cares about everyone he is looking after and we will always be thankful we chose Gary to care for our dad on his final journey.

Gary organised every detail to perfection, including him taking the service, and he absolutely nailed it! His compassion, professionalism, and support did not go unnoticed by everyone who attended, and it was a full house which did not un nerve him, thankfully. Gary was such a respectful person and showed our family so much support and consideration throughout this process. Both as a funeral director and as a minister. I highly recommend him! His warmth and good sense of humour was the perfect combination for our family.
