A little oasis and only a short distance to the railway station; trams stop outside the Garden Square and the bus station is across the road as well as Harvey Nichols and the St James Quarter.

Nice city centre green space with cafe and seating. Perfect spot to relax for a bit in the sunshine.

What a shame that another of Edinburgh’s green spaces has been ruined by a temporary coffee outlet blasting out music.I love Edinburgh and I love the festival and all it provides for Edinburgh and the tourists, but not like this. There is music all over Edinburgh so it would be nice to have somewhere to sit and relax and enjoy the calm.

Lovely place. Picnic, tourist attraction, restaurants and great public transportation links. This is right in the middle of the city centre. All tourist city tour buses start from this point. Can be very busy during summers. Scott Monument, Waverley Station and high street within mins of walk.

Very beautiful place. You can enjoy the sun or sit on the bank. People chill and relax here. Or take a coffee from Costa. Its a place where you can relax after your visit of the city centre or after shopping.

This small but possibly one of the most prestigious locations in the heart of Edinburgh has a small circular ice rink for those of you with this talent to partake in for the Christmas period. Personally I value the wholeness of my limbs so I declined to take part but must admit it looked enthralling, enjoy! !!!

Beautiful square in the bustling city center, especially beautiful at Xmas time with all that illumination on and Nativity scenes in play. Magic! Public love passing through it or just sit there next to Melville Monument or in the Costa Cafeteria enjoing the view and the coffee, indeed. Kids like splashing in the pond there in the summer. Bliss!

A great place to relax and get a cup of coffee ☕ There is a small cafe in the garden. There is a walking path around the monument in the middle. I'm giving 4 stars because it can get busy with limited seating. Especially when it is sunny, a lot people come for the tour buses that start next to the garden.

Reasonable sized little green oasis in the East end of the historic New Town. Handy for a seat, maybe grab a Costa, people watch or just pass through between the George Street bars and shops to Multrees Walk and ST James quarter beyond.Once the centre of Edinburgh's financial sector, but now given over predominantly to retail outlets. Some of the fine Georgian buildings around its edge remain, whilst the squares dominating feature is the monument to Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville.
