Avenue Road Veterinary Surgeons - Wallington

Nice vets that explain things relatively well, have generally had good service here.The only feedback I'd give is that they don't always explain the next steps or possible likely outcomes very well and you have to ask for pricing as they're not very clear at times. I've been caught out before and very surprised that they weren't able to offer night care which then entailed transport and out of hours costs (higher prices than usual) just to monitor an animal over night. I also was not made aware that further few days stay would be needed so my cat ended up in the care of another vet not very local as he needed ongoing monitoring. None of that explained, just the initial procedure (pricing was provided for this) but not any thing beyond that. That's not a one off event, communications can occasionally be unclear or hesitant (understand it's of sensitive nature but a doctor would deliver information carefully but directly if it was us humans)All most people want is transparency and want what is right/best and fair for our pet (as we all want that) but if the £ is undisclosed it can be quite stressful. I understand there can be addtional costs due to the nature of unexpected events but this is aside from that.Lastly, just more for owners peace of mind to be better informed would be really helpful, this will also help us to make better decisions for our little ones, just on a moral basis, even if it isn't the things we want to hear and may be a tricky conversation, whether that's a poor outcome for their health or a potentially large bill.They are really nice people though and the care they have given my animals has been very good as far as the skill of a vet/nurse is concerned - so don't want to sound too critical as for general care with check ups and jabs you have been fantastic over the years and the nurses/assistants clearly love our babies as much as we do, thanks for being caring friendly people that I trust with my pets wellbeing :)

I have just got my puppy and choose Avenue Road for convenience. Having been twice I am more than pleased with the service I have received and my puppy is very relaxed when visiting. I have joined the petplan and have nothing negative to say. The plan is for my peace of mind.

Because we are on “pet plan” we have had to wait longer for an appointment rather than an “paying” appointment the words from the receptionist. Really difficult on the phone about us asking to reschedule the appointment for any sooner or different times. (Encountered with a different receptionist). I’ve paid monthly on pet plan for years. Needs to be a better service.

After going to an emergency vet in Sutton and considering euthanasia due to the thousands of pounds quoted to treat our cat, thankfully we went to Avenue road vets for a second opinion, a few hundred pounds and we still have our lovely cat, thanks to ALL the staff at Avenue road vets who are so caring and compassionate.Many thanks

Took our dog in with ear problem not solved completely with OTC drops, the vet went to very great lengths advising of all possibilities and suggested a swab to look for ear mites or similar and look under microscope. Nothing showing so antibiotic drops. That cost in total £129.80 for a small bottle of antibiotic drops - which, by the way, might not work. No warning that the test would cost £36.00 in addition to £95.20 for the ‘initial’ consultation and £34.51 for tiny bottle of drops. Mentioned to the receptionist warning of cost should be given - less than interested.

I took my budgie today as he wasn’t normal self. Dr Friday took grt care to explain things and feed a medicinal dose..hope my budgie gets well soon :-).. that would sum my experience as very good ..fee and medicine cost too wasn’t high.Sad to move it to avg- dr was good but unfortunately not sure what went wrong. On next visit dr gave injection to my budgie.. and within next 5 hrs my budgie passes away.. till a day before he was flying eating and all was ok.. slumped in few hrs timeSorry I am unable to make my mind - just in case there is no experience for birds then vets should not handle .. am just guessing..dr was a lovely person but don’t know what went wrong
