I am an adult learner who started going to Gavin as a complete beginner. Gavin’s lessons are tailored to my needs as an individual and he always find solutions to any problems I encounter. His explanations are always clear, easy to understand and I feel that I make progress every week. I really enjoy my lessons and look forward to going every week.

Gavin is a first rate tutor...with an enthusiastic and patient manner. My daughter is thriving and showing great inprovement, whilst continuing to thoroughly enjoy and look forward to her lessons. I am so pleased to have chosen Gavin and would highly recommend.

Cannot say enough about Gavin in such a short space. He has worked wonders with my two daughters. They have learned so much in so little time and absolutely love their piano lessons. Gavin is patient, kind and encouraging and motivates my girls through positive reinforcement.Really happy.

Gavin has been teaching our now 12 year old daughter piano for about a year. She enjoys his methods of teaching and his charisma. Gavin is very friendly, talented and approachable as a teacher and has the patience required to help our daughter make progress when she is struggling from time to time.Gavin does push her at what I believe is the right pace. Having been through a few piano teachers over the years, I feel confident we will stay with Gavin for the foreseeable as he has the right passion having himself been a student of music his entire life and his ability to connect with his students builds confidence in us as parents.I would highly recommend Gavin to anyone of any age. He is easy to get along with and his broad skills across many instruments is a testament to his love for music.Gavin’s tuition fees are fair, we pay £30 per hour which is competitive as far as piano lessons go. We have recently moved up to 1 hour lessons once a week while also ensuring our daughter gets 20-30 minutes a day practice at home as advised. Prior to this when doing 30 minute lessons the amount of home practice was less, around 10-15 minutes. You get out what you put in I believe so the added home learning will go a long way I’m sure.During lockdown we had the option to continue our lessons over Zoom which to my surprise worked extremely well and we didn’t notice any loss in progression.Overall excellent choice for a music teacher.

Gavin is a very good teacher, not only knowledgeable and with good technique, but also very patient, friendly and encouraging, he knows how to motivate students and keep me in a positive vibe to carry on learning. It is surprising that one teacher can teach piano, violin and guitar, he is really talented! I’m learning piano and violin with him, I enjoy both lessons!

I am thoroughly enjoying my lessons with Gavin. He is friendly and approachable with a sense of humour while at the same time is a very experienced, competent and intelligent music teacher. He has great talent in his own right which is really inspiring. He is a very positive teacher, pushing me out of my comfort zone and bad habits in guitar and violin. I have M. I've been taught violin by Gavin for nearly 4 years and have progressed from complete beginner to grade 5, with grade 6 theory. His focus on technique rather than racing through exams has ensured that I really feel as if I'm progressing with the instrument, as well as obtaining distinctions in every exam I've taken so far. Developing my technique in this way has also supported my playing in folk sessions and music groups outside of lessons, and he's both extremely knowledgeable and friendly (a rare combination for a music teacher...)

Gavin is an fantastic tutor, friendly and engaging and an exceptional musician. He has taught my daughter violin for a few years now and has her total respect - her progress has inspired me to take up violin lessons too. It's a difficult instrument to learn, but the lessons are one of the highlights of my week. Highly recommend this tutor.
