Alamo Rent A Car - Edinburgh Airport

I had a very good experience with Alamo, Edinburgh.Booking only the day before, I secured a compact SUV (comparable to a Nissan Juke) for around £113 for four days.On arrival, and a little disappointingly, the category of car was unavailable. I could be offered a mid-size SUV (either a Mitsubishi ASX or a Nissan Qashqai) - both an automatic transmission. I was expecting manual - a type that I am more familiar and comfortable with.The Alamo staff told me I could wait to see what was due for return but not wanting to waste any time of my break, I opted for the Qashqai.Despite what other reviews say, there were no additional charges. My vehicle was pre-paid and my third party excess waiver at £3/day was the only added cost.A good quality vehicle though and good service both before and after the rental.One star knocked off for the vehicle category being unavailable. Booking only 24 hours before, I would have expected my chosen vehicle type (and transmission) to have been available.

Wonderful experience picking up our car with Atif. He was kind and patient and made sure we had everything we needed before we left. Would definitely rent from Alamo again.

This was my first experience hiring a car, and it was easy and convenient. Great customer service and the vehicle was clean and reliable. Highly recommend.

They had us wait almost 2 hours for a booking that was made weeks in advance. This happened to almost everyone except the company bookings which where given keys immediately. Their only excuse what that they had a lot of bookings, which is ridiculous. Never book in Alamo/Enterprise/National here unless you want your holidays ruined.

Extremely unpleasant surprise when back home after returning the car : 100 pounds from my deposit kept with no writen nor visible justification , just a voice mail on my phone.Totally unacceptable behaviour and oif course close to be a fraudulent practice. After 2 months of e mail sent , still no reply from the company.Will never use Alamo again and all should do the same

A very good experience we had. Before arriving in Edinburgh we made the reservation for a clean and new Citroen car (the car had integrated navigation) which was very useful for us who arrived from the USA and had omitted the roaming with our telephone company. The attention of the airport office by Joannie and Elliot is excellent. They explained everything to us perfectly and they gave us the option of a premium and a basic insurance, the charge was the same agreed from the reservation around 76us with insurance, they deducted 200 from the deposit which was refunded one day after returning the car, which it was also no problem. Thank you so much :)

Car was clean and that is just about where the positives end.Our party rented a large Ford minivan style car that worked well however the middle row was missing all the head rests. This is not only an inconvenience due to comfort, but extremely dangerous. When we asked if they knew where they were just as clueless as we were. Furthermore, when we asked if could exchange vehicles for one that has all its parts and safety equipment we were told no. The rental agent did however agree to give us a discounted rate.

The car we were given was incredible, more than we expected (we were given a Hybrid Hyundai Ioniq in top condition).Emma was really kind, showed us around the car, and took the time to really explain how it worked and how is their system for evaluating the car damage (if any) after the return.On return, Jax was really kind also! She gave us all the time we needed to get our thing off the car and helped us check if we were leaving something behind.We'll be returning to Scotland soon, I hope, to do another road trip (this one to the Isle of Skye was brilliant, we drove almost 900 km) and we already know where to get our car!
