The exterior belies what’s hidden behind the entrance. Great staff, in the cafe and on the till. Some great quirky gifts and the cafe is enticing. It shows that you often have to delve deeper!

One of the best places for Sunday lunch in the area, always fab service and the meal is always great. Take away service is also just as good from the carvery, chefs and staff friendly and helpful.

This is a nice looking garden centre when you arrive but inside it will appeal to the Padstow-on-Thames set, and that’s probably why it exists. Not many plants but lots of fairly expensive kitchen crockery, and general gifts. We gave the café a miss. It wasn’t our idea of said genre. Anyway, a café that requires a maître d'hôtel style greeter to seat guests is not a cafe but a restaurant. For us a garden centre should be mainly about interesting, even hard to find, plants, backed up by useful garden products. The best ones are rambling and time didn’t searching out nooks and cranny’s often reveal a reward. The emphasis at this Garden Centre seems to be more boutique than green fingers.EDIT: In reply to the business owners reply, I completely understand that diversification is an unfortunate necessity of modern trade to help balance the books. However, unfortunately the overarching appearance and experience, whether deliberate or accidental, is a of boutique that sells plants, not a garden centre. There still exists a dwindling band, sadly, of independent ‘old-skool’ garden centres that haven’t been bought out by a chain and had a chain makeover. Often these get snapped up when the owner retires. However even some independents that have gone more ‘boutique’, and become more expensive because of this, have managed to keep the central garden-centre ethos intact whilst perhaps incorporating third party outlets in adjoining buildings or areas.

Having been here several times in the past and had excellent food in the cafe, what a disappointment this visit was. We had breakfast. Some of the food was overcooked, most of it was either lukewarm or cold. Coffee arrived well before the meal and was also lukewarm. Expensive for what we got. There were plenty of staff, however they were not very friendly, no smiles and they did not check if we were happy with our meal. We will definitely not be using the cafe again. The shop was worth a visit.

Helpful staff and so accommodating, I drove for 25 hours down to Cornwall and they were the best welcome that I could've had. The whale at the front is amazing, so nice to see a local community based business that gives back to the local and holiday people. Great breakfast too !
