Beautiful, spectacular golf course. Greens and fairways in great condition. Plays well in wet conditions so fabulous game despite recent heavy rain.

Very inexpensive and well maintained municipal club. Downland and very tough power trolley or buggy useful. Wonderful views and drains quite well on the upper bits but not the valleys. Not for the unfit! Clubhouse basic but very friendly and snacks and drinks available

What a gem! Never played it until today. Wow. No buggies and it is hilly. I mean hilly. But what a challenge. Not expensive. Very helpful staff. Definitely going back. Soon as. Definitely a golfing challenge and so picturesque. Terrific. Tony Perrin.

At £14 a round I found this good value. It's a council run course that's not overly attended to so don't expect plush greens. It's also very hilly but the views are wonderful and I found that the terrain was very good for those sloping shots that a high handicapper like myself needs practice on. Some greens were well protected by bunkers and had slopes to contend with. Buggies are not provided so if you are not into hillwalking this won't be the course for you.

Yes a good course. Quite challenging and hilly. No buggies available and no food available in the week apart from chocolate and snack bars. Not really busy in the week. Cheap green fees. Definitely worth playing. Greens aren't that great at the minute but will improve over the next few weeks.

Played this course with friends on spending a few days in Brighton. On our 1st day played Hollingbury Golf course (good course with great views) which is where we heard about this Waterhall course. In spite of mixed reviews we decided to give it a go and were pleasantly surprised. It's certainly not the best in terms of clubhouse/facilities but in spite of poor weather (heavy rain) we found a course that had lots of interest (views and variety of holes) and sufficient challenge to suit; so much so that we decided to play again the following day, the last of our trip.It was surprising to see so few golfers and a great shame to hear that it might not 'survive' going forward.Whilst there are a number of criticisms one could make (e.g. bunkers) we all agreed it's fantastic value and that on balance, it's one of the better course we had played (not just round Brighton!) and would definitely play again (hopefully in better weather) if in the Brighton area again. Thanks also to Martin at the club who offered us such a pleasant welcome from 1st phone call to arrival at the club and advice on playing the course.

It's a shame interesting holes small greens could be a resonable golf course, but condition of the fairways poor due to rabbits, bunkers haven't seen a rake in months, and the greens well below average.Unable to take card payments. The guy behind the bar clearly had somewhere better to be.

Stunning downland, but open vista ruined by compartmentalised" uses. Great opportunity to reunite

Good course, even in the wet, and with scenic views. Is somewhat let down through lack of investment, used to be great. Some basics missing like kit to clean your shoes/trolley. Bar was empty despite the course being very busy, which says something about the clubhouse!

Turned up today and a really great welcome. Course fully explained to is and a few hints and tips. The course is hard graft with steep hills along the way. Although the course is not in great condition the dedication of the staff is the asset here. Understand we may lose gjis course soon which is a real shame! It is so full of potential we will be back if it remains open
