For a gaming resource you won’t find better in Cambridge or the surrounding area. ISC have a huge selection of board games. They also stock mini games and paints.My rating is based on how I was spoken to when I was last in there browsing. I started looking through a brown cardboard box in the middle of the shop and the young lady behind the counter called out loudly, in front of the owner and other customers, that I wasn’t allowed to purchase those items as they weren’t legally allowed to sell them.Fair enough I thought and thus chastised I immediately apologised and started putting said items carefully back in the box. But then this lady called out again, “They’re in that box for a reason”. Again, embarrassing me in front of everyone in the store. I’m 46 and had hoped not to be addressed like this.Anyway, rant over. Support your local game shop! They have lots of stock. The owner of the store is a nice and helpful woman, it’s just this one staff member. If you’ve thicker skin than me you’ll have no problems!

Great selection of board games and collectibles (such as Magic cards and miniatures for games like X-Wing). Proper independent shop run by a couple who believe in it. Gets busy sometimes being so close to Hills Road Sixth Form College, but they welcome grown-up gamers too. They often have tournaments, especially on Saturdays.

One of the best games shops I've been too. Gaming space for around 25 people and literally more games available than there is space to display them - hopefully the refurbishment works will make the store even better.

A lovely store with caring, kind and knowledgeable staff (It is also family run which adds a homely feel to the store and its community). Stores like this are always going to somewhat struggle but this store has been on the up for a while. This is the only of its kind in Cambridge and they do amazingly well to cater for all gamers as they host regular board game nights, MTG tournaments, YGO tournaments and have recently acted on players requests and begun catering for Vanguard. All this with a relatively tiny space is quite amazing.Of course I will say they could use a larger store for their expanding player base but unfortunately the nature of these games are unlikely to allow for that but they achieve a 5 star rating because of their commitment to providing for each individual.One improvement I would like to see is a casual YGO tournament implemented on an evening, perhaps during a weekend as this succeeded at Norwich Athena and I for one am much more of a budget/recreational player and am somewhat put off by the competitive atmosphere of locals.I should also mention that I have had to visit here with a student from the boarding school which I work at. He is a keen Vanguard player and the staff have done amazingly in catering for him in terms of his gaming needs and his personal requirements. Every effort has been made by them to keep us in the loop regarding safeguarding and they have truly gone above and beyond in recent weeks.

Not a fan. The owner seems to have a right attitude and doesnt seem to ever be happy at all. I would of thought working with and selling board games all day would make a person happy. The prices are also crazy, like £12 for a model tree. The floor of the shop moves and squeaks everywhere. You're also constantly under surveillance by the shop keeper when you go in the shop. Not a nice atmosphere.I have 3 people at my workplace who think the same.The only people who voted this retail shop 5 stars are the nerds who go there to play Yu-Gi-Oh or whatever in their tournaments. They should play some proper games. They're in a shop full of amazing games but the people who go there just play the stupid popular card games. Maybe hold a Settlers of Catan night or something...The owner also seems to take priority in eating her lunch than answering my small questions. Bit weird.

First time there and people very kind. The staff help me a lot and invite me to return another day and play with them. They have a really good variety of games and merchandizing. I will recommend this shop!

Great boardgames and gaming store, with limited space for gaming too. They stock a very wide range of boardgames, collectable card games and miniature games (although not GamesWorkshop stuff, and only a limited selection of Mantic stuff), as well as some paint and modelling tools too. Prices are reasonable- obviously you can buy cheaper online, but you can't look at what you are buying or get it that day. Also run the occasional promotion (e.g. discount for local gaming club members, discount on particular publishers) making things similar to online prices, and sometimes have a discount table- I'd rather support a physical store when I can.No free parking nearby, and the nearest parking is tricky in that you need to park in the Leisure Park multistory carpark and you have to cross three slides of a large junction- the traffic lights/controlled crossings have been set away from the junction so it can take 5mins+ to go a very short distance, I have run across the 4/5 lanes on the odd occasion I am in a rush. If you do want to park for free, you can use some of the side roads up Cherry Hinton Road, but this adds another 10mins walk.

This shop is a gem! A huge variety of board and card games, extremely knowledgeable staff that always provide great recommendations. If you like games and want proper guidance (not amazon user-feedback...), this is the place. The prices are fair (you will probably pay a bit more than with ordering on line but your risk of buying something that you will only play once is drastically smaller).There also seem to always be people there playing games very excitedly.Only negative point is that the store could use a bit more fresh air when dozends of adolescents are combatting each other in there with mighty cards.

I have been going to Inner Sanctum since it's first year of buissnes, the staff have always been helpful and pleasant and we're really helpful when o and my friends started up our gong society at Anglia Ruskin. If you want to come down and get a quick game in with your mates there is always a table free, they host games nights for those rpg and tcg fans. All in all if you looking for a no GW product this is the place to go.
