Yorkshire's answer to Stonehenge at least twice the size in diameter and there's 3 henges, not just one.

Fascinating place and very historically significant. It's a lovely open space and nice for a walk. The central henge is the most Impressive. It's worth doing a bit of research to understand what you see on the ground and how the henges sit in a ritualistic landscape. It's definitely worth a look if you are a fan of history or archaeology.

Despite their erosion and loss of gypsum surface they are still an impressive sight in their meadow setting. Excellent interpretation panels and hopefully better acces when the maintenance is complete

Great place to take your dog and family. Safe. Fenced in. Lots of mounds for dogs and children alike to run up, down and around. No carpark but able to park at the side of the road. Not a busy lane.

Free parking in layby outside the field and free entry. Visited here on May day bank holiday and found new age travellers camped around the site giving off a surly, unwelcome feel. Generally, only uneven circular overgrown mounds to see that takes about 20 mins to walk round. It looks more impressive on Google terrain view compared to ground level. I noticed people had been digging in to the mounds, I assume looking for treasure. Not worth a visit.

Spent my morning here. Next stop Midwinter sunrise at Castlerigg, also the day on which Jupiter and Saturn are visible in conjunction in the night sky as their orbit brings them the closest they have been crossing each others path sinve the 13th century. Also Star of Betlehem is prominent on the night of too.Thornborough Triple Cursus Circle HengeThe length of the entire henge is approximately a mile (1.6km) long with two large entrances situated directly opposite one other. Some archaeologists and comentators believe that the entire length of the henge aligns with the stars across Orion's belt.It would certainly have rivalled Stonehenge in its time.(Aerial photo is not mine)

Fascinating atmospheric series of massive henges with good information boards. Several roadside parking spaces. Then a short walk over open fields to circles. Quite isolated and no shelter. Got caught in sudden storm and got soaked but still worth it.

It's such a lovely place. I have been to a couple of the events and enjoyed them it doesn't look as good as when I first went as the English heritage as removed the bushes which is a shame. Needs better signage as a little hard to find
