Sighthill Bridge
Much welcomed stunning rusty bridge traversing the m8. Exotic trees and interesting sci-fi theme add an heir of otherworldliness not usaully associated with sighthill. Bridge is nice and wide and has a lovely camber to it. Cant wait to come back on two wheels and ride down the track.

Sighthill Bridge
The new and improved pedestrian and cycle bridge over the M8 linking the city centre to Sighthill and the wider North of the city opened at the end of March 2023.Accessed from the city side by a choice of either a long winding path or a more direct flight of stairs up to the level of the bridge. These routes are set in a little park (parklet? pocket park? wee dod a gerdin mibbees?) the planting of which will, I'm sure, mature into something quite nice, but beyond that there's nothing you could describe as life or buzz about it. Which is is something else I'm sure will mature as the city centre continues to fully expand into Townhead, and the redevelopment of Sighthill continues.Once up on the level of the bridge the views are pretty commanding if not exactly the most thrilling piece of skyline you'll ever see. Once over the bridge and into Sighthill you'll find yourself in a little terraced plaza area set within a linear park running along the motorway. From here you can head west to the Pinkston Basin, east to the Stone Circle, or straight ahead on Sighthill Walk into the redevelopment area (construction of which is still ongoing) and on to the new Sighthill Park. All in all the bridge and associated infrastructure are welcome interventions here, the original bridge had poor extremely poor access and felt windswept and unsafe and although the new bridge isn't quite as wide as I would hoped the city could aspire to in this location it is still a vast improvement. Worth checking out if you're in the area or just looking for something free to do, just keep in mind that it's a pedestrian bridge and not a destination" and you shouldn't be disappointed.P.S. it's made of Corten Steel
