Restaurant review: we just arrived back from our honeymoon feeling a bit blue as the holiday is over. The pie and moules served here has cheered us up 1000%. If you are hungry and want some decent gastro pub food come here + the staff are super helpful and friendly too. 10/10

This review is for the restaurant only.Absolutely amazing food!We all had the flat iron steak, it was very tasty and cooked perfectly, the best steak we've had for a long time.We chose to add some onion rings and seasonal veg and these were cooked to perfection too!Enjoyed it so much we are planning to come back again tonight.Staff very helpful and attentive.Would 100% recommend.

Thought the place looked a bit tired. In fairness the food was good. Prices mmm a bit on the high side. That would put me off if i was a regular. Think they could do more with the snug/ bar area. The emphasis is on the bistro understandably but think they are missing a trick with the bar

Overall good experience. Rooms had great beds and bathrooms, but were a bit small, the windows didn't really seal against noise and there was a smell from the shower drain. Great service from staff but not necessarily following through on everything. Food was good and filling but didn't knock your socks off. But the scones DO knock your socks off! Get them for breakfast! Location was difficult to reach on public transportation but great to reach by car though.

Been a few times and the service is generally okay. Went for Sunday roast once and the service was really slow. From the food I have had: the beef burger is good, the pie was sort of bland and the roast is good with the exception of the roast potatoes which are terrible. They had definitely been sat around for a while just being kept warm.

We popped in for a late dinner and was very pleasantly surprised - this is not your ordinary Scottish pub. Every meal is beautifully presented, the Venison was like a painting! And it tastes even better! Cooked and seasoned to perfection! Add to that a great atmosphere and supernice, welcoming and professional personnel. This is a must visit when close to Edinburgh! Do not miss!! Too bad we discovered it at the end of our Scotland visit or we would have come several times! All the best from the Swedish family.

Food soaked in oil, had to send the pigs in blankets back were told the chef thought they were fine as they were cooked fresh this morning (it was 7pm). Took 25 minutes to get their attention to get the bill after eating mains, no desert offered.

Really excellent food! The mussels were delicious, large, and moist. They came with a light cream sauce which complemented them very well. The steak and the lamb were moist but a little chewy. Everytime we were served the sourdough/farmhouse bread it was pretty burnt on one side. Service was a little curt.

Don’t eat here if you are hungry.Beautiful place with nice seats, but they had a DJ playing really loud house music with nobody around, while at the same time playing pop hits from the hotel speakers… awful sound clashing. Maybe this was just a special occasion.Don’t get the pigeon. £11, 3 small bites, nothing else on the plate. Overall the experience was super weird and fairly bad. I’m sure the hotel is nice but seriously don’t eat here lol.
