Hertz Car Hire - Exeter - Marsh Barton Trading Estate

Booked a car centrally they took £65 fee, local Exeter office cancelled booking later that day - no cars for rental. It's been 6 weeks they still have my money, impossible to get any phone number to talk to them, no response to emails - just not interested

We had a warm welcome by Dominic, who helped us in good spirit and with good advice. The check in and out was quick and efficient. The car was great. I would highly recommend this Herz location.

Warning: The online booking system is not tied to the actual availability of cars so you can book and they will take your payment and then not actually give you a car.Did eventually get a refund but it was a bit of a pain.

Absolute catastrophy. I booked a car online and the unfriendly staff told me they were 2 cars short and that I needed to cancel the booking online. I insisted to talk to somebody on the phone since they did not help me but at 16h there would nobody be there I was told and the staff refused to make the call. The number, I was given did not work. The chat on the website neither. So I had to cancel the booking. At least they caled me a taxi. I would not even give 1 star, not for the fact that no cars were available but for ghe I could not care less" attitude of the staff and for the missing contact possibilities."

They cancelled my car hire reservation at the last minute, forcing us to book elsewhere at a much higher price. Hertz was then fully unresponsive when I asked them to compensate us for the price differential.

I used Hertz Online car booking website and it took my money but I then received a voice message via mobile from Hertz Exeter to tell me there's no cars available. It took several days to get the money refunded.

Very friendly and efficient. It is a bit far away from the station but I’ll go back if I travel there again. They have Polestar 2 and it is super! Very fast acceleration! Highly recommended!

- Hired from here 3 times- Staff are friendly and helpful- Cars have been clean and ready on time, no issues there.- Main downsides are erroneous charges being added to the bill (happened twice) - quite a pain getting them resolved, hence 2 stars. Fixed this and easily 5 stars!Recommend carefully inspecting the car before you drive it, take a video of any defects - their inspection missed a big one for us before.- Also have been incorrectly charged late return + extra days on two times.- An EV we had needed a lengthy software update when we collected it, this caused issues with charging - would've been good if that was done already e.g. overnight.Advice to management: sort out when you clock the cars back in! I'm sure it's not deliberate but is a pain to deal with, especially as the phone number often can't connect (? not sure why) and the central Hertz customer support is completely useless. If cars are returned on time but not checked over until later in the morning, I'm guessing it automatically adds an extra day + late return fee.Fix the car returning times + damage inspection and I'd have no trouble recommending. As it stands it's fine, but be prepared to doublecheck and challenge any charges that shouldn't be on your bill!

Absolutely top class service. Reserved a vehicle Friday morning, collected that afternoon no problems at all. Customer service was faultless. Wouldn’t hesitate to use again. Thank you!!!

It’s a NO, NO. Awful customer service! The office was closed when we when to pick up our car at 17:00pm. We called numerous times with no answer, we waited 30mn at the door and no one come around so we have to book a hotel room for the night. Next day at 8:00am in the morning we call to pick up our car , they told us that they didn’t have our car as they have given it to someone else! No apologies were made, they cancel the booking without notifying us or booking. We will never book with this company again.
