Tachbrook Nursery School
To say I am passionate about Tachbrook is an understatement. They provide the model for every other nursery school / preschool to aspire to. I had my children in both private and state and no other school came close to what Tachbrook provided.I was passionate about my children receiving a progressive, liberal education and struggled to find schools in the U.K. that could offer this. I only found schools that were private and far outside of central London so I was thrilled when I found Tachbrook.First off, classes are staffed with fully qualified teachers, which is rare for this age group. Secondly, all of the teachers and the head were trained in progressive education philosophies - Montessori, Steiner, Froebel - and they apply the best of all of these (although they do not officially brand themselves with a particular type of education philosophy). They are very passionate about child-led, play-based learning and children spending as much time in nature as possible. Fortunately, their 1 acre garden with lots of trees is the perfect spot. The nursery decor uses lots of natural materials (you’ll find lots of plants) and the garden is how every children’s garden/playground should be — only natural materials with little to no plastic. There is a pond, a fire pit for making hot chocolate in winter months, a sand pit, wooden play equipment, a playhouse, and so much more and it’s free flow for the children between indoors and outdoors everyday. I almost forgot to mention they have Artists in Residence, specialising in music and drama, who are in school weekly.Children who leave Tachbrook are very independent, passionate to learn children as Tachbrook really fosters their individual interests and natural passions. My sons grew in ways that I would never have been able to teach him even if I committed all my time. This was particularly in regards to their emotional and social growth. I cannot recommend Tachbrook enough. The Head teacher is such an inspiring, purpose-led woman, and she really commits her all to delivering the best outcomes for each and every child. My only regret is that they only cater for children up to 5yrs old. I know many parents who would love for their children to be able to attend Tachbrook for reception and all of their KS1 school years.
