Do not vist Preston Marina in the autumn or winter, it is grey , drab and utterly depressing .I have a condition that is affected by environmental stimuli it has elements similar to that of seasonal effective dissorder as a secondary condition , the feeling I aquired from a stroll around the marina in winter time was one of inpending doom , imagine if all life had vanished everything was grey and there was no sound other than that of your heart beat and you instantly understood that was the only thing telling you that you were alive and in that instant you understood your own heart beat will be the thing that reminds you with each and every beat you edge closer to insanity, your steps will take you nowhere , you will not walk away from or run to escape this torment , after a while your thoughts become fantasty as you are no longer relevant the isolation and lack of anything stops you thoughts being your own and after a while the rocks speak your disjointed thoughts and your imagination and subconscious starts to create a watcher and that watcher steels your thoughts and you realise you are under observation , is your watcher protecting you or punishing you ?You have been emptied and you forever more will be inside your mind ; outside your head , never quite here nore there , you seen the docks and the docks knew that they took you even if you never step foot in that place again they stole you before you had chance to look away and now you can never run away for you that the next corner or alleyway you run down to escape the docks could plunge you deep into their cold wet grey hands .

Here for refresher Power Boat course, very friendly staff on site. Lovely cafe and restaurant. The team is a family run business, registered with RYA. Can highly recommend Chris the powerboat tutor. Lots of other boat courses/training on offer too, can recommend it. Great ice creams too!

Lovely morning spent exploring marina area and finishing with coffee and ice cream at the Marina cafe. Great choice of things to eat and ice cream flavours. Loads to see on walk including water skiers, bridge moving to allow yachts through, dragon boats, wildlife and the Ribble steam train!

Today I started my walk at Preston Marina, which is a lovely place to walk around even on a chilly Saturday morning in March. The Marina was busy with families, joggers- still don’t understand these people, cyclists and bikers, but social distancing measures were in place so it felt comfortable. I decided to walk around the Marina, a good walk in itself, and then join the Riverside walk which took me into Avenham Park. The route is pretty much flat so suitable for all ages and abilities, plus it is dog and child friendly with being mostly away from the main roads. The views along the way are really lovely and there are benches along the way to rest weary feet, plus places to refresh yourself with food or drink. I completed my walk in Avenham Park, and as the pictures show, it is still stunning on a cold March morning. Definitely a walk to recommend to you all.

nice place for a walk or cycle to get away from the busy town centre, pop into the cafe in the marina main building home made scones are the best.

Today I went for a walk around the marina a pleasant stroll, however I then explored further and found the Millennium walk going off from the swing bridge at the top of the marina. Follow to the right to explore the top end of the lock and to see what the docks must have been like, great if you are a social and industrial historian. If you go left you follow the Riverside a lovely walk along the Ribble including the old quay side. I only went as far as Penwortham old bridge but by the end of the walk had completed around 5miles.

Fantastic marina and friendly staff.I did my power boat corse and VHF course with them just over 12 months ago, had loads of fantastic advice as to what kind of boat to get for the Irish Sea and what to avoid. Now I have my boat moored at preston, great facilities and cafe, free parking and everyone is happy to help and answer any questions a new boater would have.

Great place for a walk. Shame about all the rubbish left behind by those visiting McDonald's.
