Classic Car Mechanic - Liphook

Eric and the Team have looked after our Jaguar Mk2, MGBGT and Bristol 407 for some time now. Finding Classic Car Mechanic was the best thing that could have happened to the cars I share with my brother. I would advise everyone to take their classic to Eric. Eric is an extremely decent knowledgeable mechanic. He has just sorted my 1968 mercedes and is now going to be looking after all my cars when needed. Gives you a fair price for what actually needs doing and nothing else.

Eric and his team are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Explained everything, were patient while waiting for rare parts to be delivered, will take great care of your 'pride and joy. I'd highly recommend them.

I had a coolant leak problem. Eric was courteous efficient and went out of his way to sort it. I have booked my next service with him. Definitely recommend this company.

Well I thought I was on to a good thing finding the services of Classic Car Mechanic - but it was not to be!Poor communication: they undertake additional works without notification and then expect to be paid for it like you have given them a blank cheque. Don't always respond to emails.Poor workmanship: my car came back with almost as many issues as it went in with including new ones - and...a fuel leak on an new pump they had fitted! Also found off-cutts of hose under the bonnet. Attention to detail lacking.Slow: expect them to see more of your vehicle than you will - they seem to have no sense of urgency. Promised deadlines exceeded.I could go on. What a shame - I thought previous reviews put them in good light but I can honestly say that I have been left disappointed and underwhelmed on every occasion. But sadly it seems they are disinterested in finding a solution to make a customer happy!

I used the Classic Car Mechanic to recommission one of my classic cars. Over a period of 10 weeks that they had the car, I had to chase them on progress and it only seemed to move forward once I had chased them. The estimate went from an original £900 to a final bill of £4,000 as they found additional things that needed fixing, despite them charging me £108 at the outset for a vehicle health check to identify the extent of work required. I had to ask them to remove items from the final invoice that been charged on earlier invoices. I wouldn’t have minded the total cost, if they had completed the work however when I collected the car it broke down two miles up the road, the car still had many of the same issues that it originally went in with such as petrol leaking from the carburettors. In addition to this, the front passenger seat had been removed and not refitted, heater ducting removed and not replaced, Speedo cable not fitted, brakes repaired but now the pedal almost reaches the floor and needs to be bled again. They said that the car needed new engine mounts and gearbox mounts, which I supplied, however the engine mounts weren’t fitted and one of the gearbox mounts not fitted. I could go on….. They did offer to fix the problems, which I declined as I had lost all faith in them. Probably the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a business. Nice guys, but failed to deliver on service, communication and quality of work.

Great garage. Knowledgeable about my specific car (old mini) and they were helpful answering all my questions I had, having just bought the car. They booked me in for an afternoon slot and they completed the work on that afternoon in good time and I was able to collect that evening and they kept me updated the whole way with cost etc via email. Highly reccomend.

Eric is a wizard at fixing some very interesting and different vehicles - he kept my Trabant going. Easy to get to and very accessible, staff always explain what they are doing and will listen to requests. The yard is a treasure trove of amazing cars waiting for their turn to be fixed. Highly recommended.
