DO NOT GO TO BIMM LONDON. When I applied I remember seeing bad reviews and thinking 'it cant be that bad'. I'm doing music business and have been taught the same content all three years in a row. After complaining about multiple things to the head of module and head of education, nothing has been changed. While there are some nice lecturers who genuinely try to help and advise you best they can, the rest do not care about your mental health, especially through these very destructive, hard times. There has been NO consideration for the students during covid-19 and lockdowns and we are treated as though we should be completing work as usual and there are no excuses. The only thing I will get from it is a degree and knowledge that I could've read from a book.

My experience from Tech music school has been amazing for several different reasons. What was important for me, starting this school, was the obvious. And that was that the level of teaching was high. That the teachers never stopped trying to inspire and help students grow. And that is what I experienced during my 2 years of study. I think the most important part of any studies is that you have to have an idea of what you want to get out of the course when finishing. If you have that and you work hard, Tech music school is the perfect place to develope yourself as a musician and artist. Not only is the teaching great, but what makes it even more great is the students that you work with everyday. People from all over the world come to study at this school and the mix of culture and music is wonderful. It is also a very good place to form proffessional contacts, with both the teachers and some students, working in the music industry. Of course, every school has its flaws, and Tech music school is no exception. The school is, however, open to communication and you can make your voice heard with any issue that you feel needs to be brought up.So in conclusion: I warmly recommend this school for any musician that wants to be in a intense music enviroment that both the school itself and London as a city creates.

I work here, but truly from behind the scenes can say that BIMM London is an absolutely exceptional place! A seriously high level of tutor integrity, and the heads of the school are really calm and focussed, which filters from the top - down, all the way to students! I would not be going gout of my way to write a review unless I though that it truly was great. The old theory that if you don't have anything good to say, keep it to yourself! Truly, superb learning environment.

I've been a student at Tech since 2008, and so have spent time there under both the old and new management, and during the troubles with the neighbours which led to the unfortunate (but unavoidable) curtailment of some of the facilities. While the situation may not be ideal - and lets face it, no institution is perfect - the college has made every effort to establish a system that makes the most of it. Which, I believe, is the most important thing to understand when undertaking this or any other type of education. You have to make the most of it.Throughout my time here, I've seen all kinds of people come and go, some of whom seem to think simply being in this environment will transform them into virtuosos overnight, and can't seem to understand why they're being taught things they think they 'don't need to know'. And that's fine. The point, however, is that its what you make of what you're given that counts. Everyone is given the same material, attends the same lessons, has the same teachers. Then why is it that some people progress while others do not?The thing a lot of people fail to understand is this: there's no way around the fact that with something like music, no one can make you better at what you do but yourself. This holds true no matter where you decide to study. At Tech, the teachers are experienced, excellent at what they do, and the knowledge they impart is vital. But they will be the first to tell you that it is up to you to make the most of it; after a point they can only provide direction (which they do extremely well). It is what you take from what you are given that makes the difference, and they give you a great deal.Personally, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here, I've learned a lot, and more importantly I've learned HOW to learn. The most important thing I've gained from being at Tech is empowerment. I now know how to go about achieving any musical goal I set for myself. Not to mention I've been able to meet and play with some great musicians from all over the world. Sure, there are things I would change, but as I said, nothing is perfect. Ultimately, its the effort you put in that determines the result you get.If you are willing to put in the hard work, and want an education that can give you versatility and independence, this is the place for you. If its magic you're after, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I did the degree at Tech - and really have to disagree with these previous reviews!!TMS is a great place for young musicians!! The simple fact that you meet people from all over the world just to make music with is awesome!I think the course offers a lot as well!! It gives a very widespread view on the what its about to be a professional musician - far beyond just playing"!I know that a few people are complaining - but you have them at any college. And from my experience

Student support are great and facilities staff make the university run very smoothly, however classes are too big, BIMM London is a money hungry business rather than a thriving young musician hub, no 1-1 tuition except 'tutorials' that are only 30 minutes and have extremely few spaces( that you have to wake up at 6am to book, they're not even available all term, merely 6 weeks and unavailable in reading week which is baffling) (impossible to even get proper 1-1s in future curriculum as now classes are too big for tutors to find time for everyone).Numerous tutors with ego problems and rude behaviour towards students with lesser ability or confidence. Many occasions proving this, Musical Directors making 16/ 17 year old diploma students cry out of class rooms because tutors don't possess the required human empathy to provide fearless feedback without being a d#ck. shockingEnd of term showcases and other events run very well under Michele Humphries however other particular staff Ive found to meet at these events have been intoxicated and condescending, one staff member named Ian Sillett used a fake name to avoid getting into trouble for being disrespectful towards me, I visibly made it apparent that I wasn't going to put up with his behaviour especially on my graduation showcase night, I merely asked a question about the introduction of their new masters course and was treated condescendingly, violated by beer breath and slurred words, name dropping the gentleman to his left who quite frankly I couldn't care about... cringe and pathetic. Any tutor who thinks its big or clever trying to make someone feel small or below them because they have little experience in the industry they are trying to enter shouldn't be a tutor" at this university. BIMM London is trying make its name as a 'people institution' and he's definitely not one of those people...get rid.Module leaders are so quick with emails and issues its fantastic support

I tried to transfer from BIMM Dublin to BIMM London. I did my entrance exams in April, got my place kind of accepted 2 weeks ago (Mid Sept). Then they asked me to do English exams, despite the fact I was already a BIMM student in another English speaking country. Then, after classes started, they say: congrats, etc. Ask for bank statements etc. Then i receive a message saying: you’re 2 days late, because it took them 6 months to review my documents and if I didn’t contact College Principal, I don’t think I’d ever get a reply. At the end of the day, college in Dublin already started, college in London already started and I have been sitting in Russia for 5 months not knowing if I got it or not. Now they say I’m late and I need to do online until January. No organisation, barely ever pick up phone. Spent hundreds of pounds trying to get documents for visa and the English exam. And now They want me to do online and pay 12k£ for it, because they’re docs review was late and they only reply on my emails on the next day (at least).

Really well equipped and both lectures and students seem to enjoy what they are doing. Great place for young people to study music. No accommodation or parking but good transport links.

I have just finished my third year degree at Tech Music School and an year before I did a Diploma course. After these four years I can say that I have get a big library of knowledge and the teachers are AMAZING with loads of experience and a very high standard of preparation. The school's structure is very well organized and it's very hard to manage a school with a very big number of student and courses.I will definitely recommend this school and the good thing is that you can confront yourself with other people throughout the world. Finally, I want to thanks TMS as I am going to play at the ceremonies of the Olympics in London 2012 and they gave me the contact for the audition.Samuele

Please read before you think about joining. If you’re wanting to further you’re music career BIMM is not going to do that. If you want a performing career you do not need the degree for that and you will leave feeling let down. The amount of people who drop out is absurd. They care a lot about money and that’s pretty much it. Booking rooms is so difficult you don’t get to make the most out of the resources they have as they are just not there or they are snapped up within minutes. Some lecturers are great but nothing special for what you pay for . Go and get some proper industry work experience.
