MHA Homewood - Residential Care Home

Thank you for caring for my dad he was very well cared for at Homewood and his final days were spent in comfort whilst being supported with 24 hour care. no one could ask for more than that for their loved one's. Care staff are to be congratulated.

When mum first went to stay at Homewood due to failing health and mobility preventing independent living,she hated not being in her own home. It took time for her to settle in but eventually realised she was safer and developed relationships and trust in the staff. Sadly mom's health deteriorated further over 12 weeks but this is when the staff shone. They listened to the families wishes and spoke to GPs and district nurses when needed and informed the family of any changes. We are quite a large family and the home always did their best to ensure we could visit when we wanted to.When mum's end of days arrived the team kept us up to date with her condition and although we visited very regularly at the end we missed her passing by minutes. The lovely Jo sat with mum holding her hand and talking to her as they had developed a frienship and had giggled together when mum was able to.The staff were compassionate and caring so although it broke our hearts when mum had to transfer into the home it confirmed it was the best thing for mum. It meant she was looked after by carers rather than ending her days in A&E or on a busy hospital ward with family being free to visit and say our goodbyes. Many thanks to all the team at Homewood

A lovelly home

Poor care, we removed my father in law from the home and he happily settled into another. His complaints were there wasn’t enough (or any as he said) staff on duty. He said he was only ever taken to the dining room for meals and the rest of the time he stayed in his room. The room itself was not appropriate as he couldn’t access the toilet properly as it was too close to the wall and he couldn’t transfer between wheelchair and toilet, it was also the wrong height. We ended up taking his own commode in for him to use. He couldn’t sit in any of the more comfy chairs because they all had arms on them. He was left on the toilet for about 2 hours on one occasion which was totally unacceptable. He told us that when he used the call bell no-one came. When he left the home we were told that they would invoice us for the time that he spent at the home, they didn’t and now we have received a final demand for payment. It would have been good had they sent the first one!

I loved their garden

Only sang there, but it did look nice and tidy and residents looked well cared for.
