Walleys Quarry Landfill

I have been living in the area now for two years after moving from the South coast and am disgusted by the smell that this landfill produces and the seagulls that it attracts. I have seen more seagulls here than I ever did living on the beach. The smell is intolerable and I refuse to believe that it could be rated as a 1-2 when investigated by Red Industries. As we are in Covid times, the most excitement we can imagine is going for a walk, but we are not even able to do this due to the smell. We have had many occasions where I have felt the need to cancel our walk, as it has been unbearable to leave the house or even open a window. I am adamant that this landfill prevents people from moving to this area and I am now looking to vacate this area myself as it is too much. The most disheartening sight is walking past the cemetery opposite the landfill and seeing rubbish on the graves. I hope this can be rectified soon for the sanity of the residents of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Management are thick , rude & need a slap, I used to deliver there. Questionable loads are tipping as I type !!!

Living less than 1 mile away this place has let off some of the worst smells I've ever smelled. It invades my homes weirdly on weekend evenings especially bank holiday weekends. Its brought thousands of seagulls and I've seen an increase in rats (coincidence maybe?) The place is disgusting the staff have ZERO consideration at all for the surrounding communities. The management of this place are deffo dumping illegal stuff that they shouldn't be here. My children attend a school near by and have had to cancel outdoor PE lessons and playtime as a direct result of the smell. The children often complain and have even made banners and posters saying they do not like it. It's making people sick... this should NEVER have been allowed. Shame on environmental health

I live in Silverdale and the smell that comes from this place is putrid! It forces me to keep my windows closed; when I am already housebound. Even with my windows closed the smell wakes me up in the night and I cannot return to sleep due to the smell and feeling sick. This site is way to close to residential areas! My quality of life is limited as it is but this site is taking away my basic rights to fresh air and quality rest.

So this place is responsible for the terrible smell over a whole community. I have travelled many times from Manchester to North Staffordshire and every time there's a foul smell which you can be smelled from miles away. Must make peoples lives a misery!

Walleys Quarry Landfill. The place of smell based nightmares. I think if I were to poo in my hands and clap on a daily basis I would probably smell better than what comes through my cars air con/heating as I drive near to this sorry excuse of a dump.Do something about the stench. What a poor state of affairs this government is responsible for in terms of correcting this enormous issue for the community. Hang your heads in shame. It's been over a year.

If I were to describe the smell you get when you live near here, I would tell you that it is like you put all your food waste in with your general waste and animal waste, mixed it with water, and left your bin open in the sun for a week. It is putrid, and reaches the local schools and houses. Some of the local residents have lived here for years and only recently, they have had to deal with this smell filling their homes. The gasses may not be toxic, but they certainly are sickening and that alone is affecting health... not just physical, but mental. People can't afford to leave, but if they could, I am certain they would.

One star is one too many. They are responsible for blighting the lives of thousands of people who live in Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding areas. We have to live with the constant stench from this awful landfill. This has been going on for years but the last few months have been unbearable. I wonder how many of their senior management live near here, none I'd guess. This has to stop for the sake of our health and sanity. I urge you not to do business with these people

1 star because i can't put minus 5 stars. I have been living in the area now for the last couple of years. The smell is disgusting and we can't even open our windows. The smell comes even inside the house and some times it's so toxic that we fill that our throat is burning. My wife is allergic and she cannot breath and tears are coming of her eyes. All that inside our houses, we are not talking to go outside for a walk. THIS HAS TO BE STOP NOW! Next step is a lawsuit to whoever is responsible for that crime.
