Phoenix Fitness Centre and Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool

I take my son there for swimming lessons. The staff are nice and friendly, and the pool area is clean. The changing rooms are numerous, and they have a main pool as well as a learners pool. The temperature of the main pool is warm as a lot of centres have pools that are too cold. I have not seen the gym, so I can not comment.

‘ Better sports centre ‘Marco lifeguard on the reception was absolutely amazing,,And Conor the full time lifeguard was also very sweet ..Very patient and managed to sort out a bit of confusion with my booking with a pleasant smile, friendly banter and extremely professional at all times ..Francisco was so sweet and also had ALL of the above qualities..I’d highly recommend this placeA great place for children and adults ( families)

The reason behind the opening of this place is unclear, as it seems to cater exclusively to private events and children. This raises concerns about the availability of a public swimming pool. It appears illogical for the council to allocate funds to a facility that is not accessible to the general public.

I’m starting to go to the gym to lose weight and also because it’s 5 minutes from home. The gym is decent but you definitely need spray and wipes to clean the machines after you use them, none provided.

I dont usually write reviews especially to a place where I've been going since I was young but the Staff are so RUDE! instead of talking to you politely they talk down to you it's so bad and swearing infront of my kids it's just disgusting. Told the manager he didn't seem bothered at all! RIDICULOUS

Closes too early. I don't think any of the 10 other Better gyms I've been to closed this early. Also there is minimal mat space for doing stretches, yoga etc. I preferred Gym Group and Gym Group isn't even good.It also isn't kept clean, I've seen used gum stuck to a machine that was there two weeks later.

If I could give a 0 to this place I would. I never provide reviews however felt compelled so no other parent should waste their time and money.My child was at stage one for 8 months no progress and mainly due to the teaching staff I.e poor teaching style which lacks skill and empathy in my opinion.As a beginner there would be several occasions where the staff would not get in the pool with children and stand on the side expecting them to follow instructions. Classes can be overcrowded particularly on weekends meaning very limited time to teach your children, I understand it’s not 1:1 class but there’s no direction. Teachers became frustrated at my child not being able to follow their instructions resulting in them shouting, clear aggressive body language and inevitably causing my child to cry on various occasions. For a 5 y/o it’s extremely authoritative and disciplinarian.On one occasion one teacher had picked up my child and throw her in the deeper end of the pool, horrified I saw behind the glass and spoke to the teacher immediately only for him to lie and say she asked for it. My child would never say that as she was frightened of the deeper end and him as a teacher due to him screaming constantly!!!I’ve complained and ended my membership with not one member of staff following up.Please do not waste a penny here and even more importantly your time. I gave it time to actually enable my child to progress but after 8 months I had to stop.The facilities are horrendously poor, hair everywhere, most cubicles smelling of urine and the hairdryer never works. Main area is like a sauna.Every member of staff I have observed just shouts or are on their phone or quite frankly do not care given their attitude and responses.Avoid, avoid, avoid and avoid!

I’ve used this gym, and fitness facility, for over two decades. I’ve managed to fulfil my goals in fitness, physique, and strength. The gym has exactly what one needs, is kept clean at all times and operates 99% since I started. It’s more accessible than before, which is great; and is reasonably priced. The team are great, friendly, learned, and ready to help. The customers are of the same calibre. It’s full of friendly people of all ages (18+), races, and backgrounds who get along nicely. If you’re looking for a place where you feel welcomed, judgement free, safe to work towards your fitness goals, this place should prove more than adequate. Over two decades and 0 conflicts while using every available tool and always walking away with a good warm smile from any encounter is what I’ve experienced. Hopefully others feel the same.

Excellent facilities, the gym got an overhaul around 2021 and added some fancy Technogym machines, including a Skillmill that nobody uses - a good replacement for sled pushes.It gets very busy from quarter to 6 in the evening, any other time it's great.

Good gym but nothing else to do that’s why Im leaving and joining mode club as it’s got more stuff to do and getting it for £85 per month with lounge and spa and nicer pool and food area to sit and relax and nicer and much bigger gym
