We went here a few months ago for Sunday lunch and will never return. The ambiance is terrible, no staff chatting with customers, you feel like you’ve got to whisper, no background music it was like being in a care home. The owner I think a lady who made us feel uncomfortable nearly running to the door to ask what we wanted. After sitting us down at the table she was then stood with a stern face all the time not welcoming at all. Her vibes are most definitely being passed down to her staff as they looked very timid. Food was a 1 star and if I could mark the owner a zero for atmosphere then I would. Once a good pub ruined !!

Absolutely brilliant meal. The dinner was delicious. I had fish and chips and they were cooked perfect. The roast dinners looked lovely. Plenty of dishes to choose from on the menu, also special meals of the day were on a board in the dining area. Try and leave room for a dessert, if you can. I had a twix cheesecake with cream. It was presented beautifully and tasted lovely. The restaurant was very clean. Would be better to reserve a table, as the Inn was busy. Plenty of car parking spaces.

Incredible food & great service. Steak & Ale Pie was excellent. Biscoff cheesecake special was incredible too. New favourite place for a pub lunch.

Had a recent visit here while we were in the area. Having struggled to find anywhere offering a good selection of vegan food it was a joy to come across this place that had a separate vegan menu. Choices - woo hoo! The food was excellent. If it had been closer to where we were staying we would have gone back several times. Added to that it is dog friendly so win win

Just stopped in for a shandy, but it was really nice, and was very busy. Seems like everyone lives this place.

I wouldn't go here ever again even if they gave me a free meal. Worst service of my life. They made us wait well over an hour out of pettiness after ordering our food because someone I was with ordered a well done steak, they defended it saying we deserved to wait and that it 'needed more time to cook', sure but not 90 minutes! When the food did come it was incredibly mediocre, the staff were rude and the place is quite dirty, such a shame Widdrington's only pub food-place is so terrible. (I ordered a medium and it was still low quality, chips are also soggy.)DO NOT GO HERE!!!

I do like this pub. Lots of memories of great north bike rides and stopping here to rest. Motorbike trips up the coast and lunches on the way.The atmosphere is great. The staff are friendly. I didn't like the chips that's much...and that is my only downside. I prefer them to be crispy. If your passing by pop in. The food choice is also good and reasonably priced.
