Put this on your bucket list!!!We visited here after hearing Colin had left the three tuns and opened his restaurant at what we used to know as the conqueror years agoWhat an absolute experience it was!!From the moment we arrived and went through the entrance we knew this was going to be special. We were greeted by Juliette and Ella, mother and daughter who were running FOH and so professionally. We sat at our table and presented with menus, and took our drinks order. The local cider must be tried seriously good. The menu changes to suit local resources and fish delivered on the day from boats that are listed on the menu showing just how fresh it is.We went for the dogfish scampi with homemade tartare sauce which was super creamy snd deliciously chunky, and the scampi itself was a Triumph. My partner chose the power soup which on first sight looks weak, but let me tell you it really packs a punch with flavour and texture. We both had the lamb wellington main course and it delivered in every way possible. Cooked perfectly, flavours came through tantalising every sense on the tongue, and the seasonal veg with walnuts and pine nuts complimenting the lamb. I cannot say enough how immaculate the main course was and worthy of 2 rosettes no mistake. We retire to the bar for dessert and shared the forest Berriew warmed with sloe gin and lemon tonic sorbet, which finished the meal on an absolute high.Colin and his brigade, his partner Juliette and her daughter Ella along with their FOH have been there only 4 months sbd I urge you to go and sample some of the best English cuisine there is around, and I guarantee you will leave as excited as we are to return again in the very near future

One of the best Sunday roasts I have had for many years.I had the Venison and it was gorgeous, excellent freshly cooked roast potatoes, light Yorkshire pudding, and to top it of we were supplied with a jug of hot gravy. We also tried the flowerpot bread which was absolutely stunning. The service was also excellent. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic evening at Colin Nash at The New Forest Retreat. I enjoyed Dorset snails followed by venison and to finish the chocolate and peanut torte. Delicious seasonal local ingredients, fabulous service in a beautiful setting. Very reasonably priced too.Sorry to read negative views from the vegan mafia who are bitter that the previous restaurant owners were evicted due to not paying their bills!Highly recommend this restaurant

Excellent. Tasty interesting and very well cooked food. Our party of 4 enjoyed everything immensely. Especially the little extra treats provided by the kitchen. Well priced menu. Sadly the restaurant was quiet that evening during our visit. Will most definitely return.

I can't believe this isn't rated higher! The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable on the menu, and there were several options accommodate options for a gluten free and vegetarian guest. It's a little pricier than going for a pub lunch, but it was truly worth it. Very pleased and will likely be back!

Just had Sunday lunch. Great menu choice. The beef was fabulous. I asked for my wife’s meal and my brother in laws, to be cut as they both have trouble . The chef cut the meal without any fuss. Service was great. Atmosphere very good too. Definitely be back…..

My husband and I enjoyed a meal here on Friday evening for our wedding anniversary - having married 10 years ago at the East Close which is what was here before it became The Retreat. The food was amazing as was the lovely bottle of wine we shared. We were treated to a delicious amuse-bouche while we waited which was a nice touch. My husband had the venison pie which has a really tasty suet pastry and delicious mashed potato, and I had the brisket of beef which came with the most delicious gnocchi I have ever tasted. We both also really enjoyed the veg which included a delicious cauliflower puree. We then shared a generous but very refined cheese board. We were really happy with our meal and will definitely be returning. I would absolutely recommend!

We had noticed the restaurant when passing by previously, and decided to try it out for a late lunch/early dinner. It's a very spacious restaurant with nice decor. They have an outside area, great for those warmer days. Staff were welcoming, friendly & attentive. All food we selected was beautifully presented & absolutely delicious. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a tasty amuse-bouche.If you enjoy freshly cooked food of a very good standard you'll get precisely that. We are more than happy to highly recommend this lovely restaurant. We very much look forward to our next visit.
