Cute little place without much seating or parking nearby.Overall the experience was okay, but the service was oddly trite and not warm (which is surprising for the UK).The fish and the pickled eggs were definitely the highlights. The egg in particular was nice and light with a tart finish (not overwhelming at all). The cod was well fried and wasn't too greasy. The chip order (medium) was far too large for one person and we're a bit over fried and dried-out for my liking, but maybe it was just a poorly made batch.

No idea if this place has changed hands? Quality of food on last two orders have not rubbish. Tonight, two teenagers serving, way slower than usual to get anything done. Got home and 1/2 my order was missing! Won’t be going back.

Ordered a large haddock and two medium chips from Just Eat this evening. The chips were awful; tiny portions, well overcooked and dry. Been going here for years and without doubt the worst I've ever had. Rang them to complain and all I got was sorry and that they are busy! Sadly service has declined in recent months, a real shame as I used to look forward to a Farrows and recommended them to friends.

Takeaway was good, always good quality ordered a regular cod and regular chips and a small battered sausage for 11.10 portion was slightly smaller than expected but was excellent

Ordered large bag of chips with fish and sausages. The chips were small/medium size at best and certainly not worth a whooping £5.50. Sausages were bland, but the cod was nice. Been going here for 10-15 years and the price has risen, but the quality has declined. Won't be using them again. Much better quality/value for money elsewhere. AVOID

FIRST AND LAST VISIT. My Mum and I wish we had continued to drive past this fish and chip takeaway with such a good reputation! Our experience was certainly memorable, but not for the right reasons. £20.70 for two regular fish and chips with 1 curry sauce. The chips had obviously been sitting in old oil for a considerable time and the fish was unexceptional. I still have the oil taste in my mouth and the indigestion in my stomach the next day from the few chips I could eat by smothering them in the equally unexceptional curry sauce.Such a shame for a fish and chip takeaway who, from other reviews, can obviously produce edible food from time to time.

I'm so used to gluten free being something that's only available one day a week at the few chippies that do it that I called ahead to make sure. I'm glad I did because it gave them half an hour head start to prepare my order as well, which was enough time to walk over. But it wasn't necessary. The gluten free batter is made with corn, which does have a distinct flavour. I suppose it's cheaper than the blended flours on the market. Once I understood the flavour I liked it better. I'm happy that they also offer all the fritter options gf too.The portion sizes were decent, we didn't actually finish in one sitting. There was a good range offered all freshly cooked. I just think the mushy peas could have been bigger, I'm used to a full cup and this was barely half of one.

The chips were over cooked and too crunchy, weren’t the nicest and my partner had the chicken nuggets and the chicken felt rather soggy and a little undercooked. I won’t be visiting back here, the one up the road is a lot better and more friendlier service!
