Feng Chinese Restaurant

Really, really good Chinese food. Far better than your standard Chinese restaurant - such a great choice of exotic dishes, try the Ma Po Tofu, it was amazing.The standard fare is equally good too, especially the vermicelli, and the portions are hearty. Highly recommend.

Decided to try this restaurant on 20/02/20 at about 18.00hrs. We were greeted at the door on our arrival and led to a table for two. First impression was that the food should be pretty good as the majority of the customers were chinese. The staff were pleasant and attentive and the restaurant was nice and clean. It was a cold evening but the restaurant wasn't warm or cold but comfortable. Before our order was even taken a large wicker bowl of prawn crackers to share appeared on the table. I started with salt and pepper spare ribs for starter and my companion had the sweet and sour soup. The ribs were nice but a bit tough and somewhat dry but the taste made up for that. The soup was superb and I tried it too just to confirm it, honest. Plenty of ingredients in it that made it really substantial. To drink I had a very nice glass of Pinot Grigio and my companion an English tea which arrived in a teapot big enough for two. For the main course we decided to cut down on the rice so ordered one portion of egg fried rice between us and three mains consisting of, King prawn Chop Shui(yes that's how they spell Chop Suey). Chicken Chop Shui and Beef in Oyster sauce. Both the chicken and king prawn were delicious. Plenty of prawn and chicken with a nice variety of vegetables. The egg fried rice was a nice nutty flavoured accompaniment. The Beef in oyster sauce was a bit bland and a little tough with the vegetables just a bit too 'Al dente' but it didn't put me off. To finish, we had a pot of chinese green tea and my companion had a banana fritter, again cooked beautifully. The total cost for all this was £55.30 which I consider a good price all things considered. The last meal I had like this cost £74.00. Would we go again? Yes and after taking a quick look at the Chinese menu (Authentic dishes) I would like to try some of them and some not!
