Tideford Abattoir

Having moved to Gulworthy 3 years ago and a lifestyle change incorporating a smallholding we started to develop our Pedigree Old Spot Pig herd. We went by recommendation and our own research and chose Tideford to manage our pigs final journey. 3+ years later and there is nowhere else we would consider taking them. This is a small, personal, family run business with the utmost attention to detail. The team are always helpful and willing to offer advice and feedback about how to get the best from our animals. Having cared for our animals for often in excess of 15 months we have always been impressed by the caring approach taken to them, the unhurried time to offloading, the spotless conditions they are placed in - they are never stressed. For any smallholding venturing into managing their livestock I can only highly recommend Tideford.

Tideford is our choice of abattoir due to the high standard of care they show our Dexter cattle during their last hours.

We take our sheep to Tideford every week. The service is impeccable, they always go the extra mile for us. They're great with the animals; its not an easy job for anyone to do but they do it with respect. The protocols they use minimise distress, they run a clean and tidy operation with the animal's welfare in mind at every stage. The butchery is also first class, neat and precise and you can trust it's your animals and that all of it is there - unlike some we've been to over the years. Very good service all round - highly recommended.
