Askham Bar Park & Ride

Easy way to go the the historic centre of York. Plenty of parking, an inside area to wait if the weather is poor, toilets have been clean when I have been, and helpful staff during the day. Download the first bus app for cheaper tickets. The group ticket for up to 5 people was a good deal for us. Frequent, fast service, beats trying to drive and park in York.

Ideal park and ride ample parking and buses every 15 minutes or so. Final stop is on Tower Street which is handy for the, Castle Museum and Clifford's Tower etc, also within easy walking distance to the Shambles and many other attractions

Good parking location right off of the A64, good sized bays but not massive. Well laid out and there is a large ticket office, indoor waiting room with lavvies and a few vending machines.The lady working the day we went recommended us a group saver so we saved a few pennies over separate returns.Buses are all brand new EVs so fairly quiet and don't stink! The front seat upstairs provides plenty of toddler entertainment! The buses have WiFi and usb charging points.The only problem was when we returned we needed to do a nappy change and the nappy table had cracked by the hinges and felt flimsy/dangerous to use.

Located on the south west side of York, ideally located to park up and catch the bus service into York.There is a ticket office on site, or you can buy tickets on the bus.The location has good street lighting, which made it feel safe returning to the car in the dark.The downside was the bus route out of York was not a dedicated bus lane and therefore the bus got caught in significant traffic in rush hour.

Straight off the motorway from Sheffield. The number 3 bus takes you into town.. as far as Clifford's Tower. So convenient. The traffic can get very busy though . Large. Car park. Good idea for sure.

This is a huge parking area so obviously does a good job keeping traffic out of the city. The parking itself is free and the bus service is very regular (every 10 minutes) and reasonably priced. For Senior travel card holders it is less than £3 return. Its great!

First time using the park and ride, never again! Arrived and was immediately at the back of an ever growing queue of at least 200 people with more joining. Gave up after half an hour and walked into York. It was 30 minutes before we saw the 1st number 3 heading back to Askham Bar and we'd reached the city centre by the time we saw a 2nd. Appalling. Waited to get the bus back from Blossom Street, a First employee told us it would most likely not stop as it was usually full. My family were the last people accepted onto that bus with others left behind as it was full.Why are they selling tickets but not providing a reasonable service? Disgraceful.

Easy to park, plenty of parking. Good toilet facilities. Free parking. Park and ride is good value for money and didnt need to wait for a bus either end they were so regular. Buses were modern and clean. Electric chargers available also for a fee. Free usb charging ports on bus seats. Woukd recommend for easy and stress free access into and out of york.

To be fair it's usually a half decent service BUT on arriving on 18 November which was the first day of the Christmas market it was a nightmare. After parking we got into a long queue to buy bus tickets we then joined the back of a queue for a bus which stretched completely around the ticket and toilet building and into the parking area (100+). We waited for approximately 50 minutes with no information or bus in sight. Many people started to drift off. There's been roadworks into York for a while and knowing it was the first day of the Christmas the council should have anticipated problems and put on more buses. We left knowing if or when we got into York the trip back would have been disastrous.

A great Park & Ride service! Buses run approximately every 12 minutes and the fleet is all electric, which is always a bonus. A return ticket is only £3.60 - a very reasonable price.
