Sing For Smiles

I was a complete beginner to singing when I started a year and a half ago. I absolutely love going to lessons, Sarah makes them really fun and its a pressure free environment where you can learn at your own pace. I think the name of the school is very apt as I do leave class smiling and relaxed, even when I've had a busy day at work beforehand! I've learnt so much in the time I've been going and would definitely recommend this class to all the beginners out there who've been thinking about starting singing for a while!

Vikki is a brilliant teacher. She somehow manages to challenge you whilst, at the same time, making you feel happy and comfortable about it! In the first class I went to we were all nervous beginners but, an hour later, she had us singing a two part harmony. Four years later I’m still singing. Highly recommended.

When my daughter was 5, I searched for a choir for children, unfortunately there weren’t any that would take one so young. Lucky for us, we found Sing for Smiles. My daughter has been singing with them for the past 5 years, she’s not only learned some challenging songs but has worked through appropriate work books, introducing her to reading music. Her lessons since lockdown have been via Skype and this flexibility has worked out really well for us. Sarah is always encouraging, patient and kind. The lessons are fun relaxed and varied. Sarah and Vikki were both very supportive of my daughter when she chose to perform on stage (twice) for the Sing for Smiles Showcase. I would certainly recommend this singing school.

Really enjoy singing lessons with Vicki and have been attending for quite a few years now. Started off in Singing for Fun group and now Singing in Harmony. Vicki is an excellent teacher, very patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. Highly recommended.

I first heard about Sing for Smiles because my husband bought me a voucher for a Lesson for my Christmas so I went along in January and have had 3 more Lessons since.I have found this experience very good because Sarah has taught me all the things that you don’t realise about singing for instance the breathing exercises, technique’s and all the correct sounds. By doing these things I have improved immensely with my singing as it has made me feel more confident when I do sing so I will continue with my Lessons and Sarah is so nice and friendly and makes me feel at ease every time I go. My 12 year old daughter has been singing with Sarah for about a year now. She absolutely loves it. Sarah focusses on making the singing lessons fun, allowing my daughter to choose her favourite music while giving her tips and techniques that have improved her notes, control and confidence to now sing in public.

Cannot recommend Sing for Smiles enough. Sarah's patience and expertise in our joyous lessons have taken me from a virtual complete beginner with absolutely no confidence in my voice to happily singing out some of my favourite tunes, no questions asked, using technique lightly learned along the way to really enjoy exploring a vocal range I never dreamed existed. Our lessons are a definite highlight of my week!

I have attended classes in Singjng in Harmony with this Vocal School for several years. The classes are very in-depth, covering every aspect of the art of singing, breathing, scales harmonising and everything related. Vikki and Sarah make these lessons particularly friendly and fun, their outgoing personalities being really well suited to teaching all age groups. They cover an eclectic range of songs, classical, rock, pop. You name it, Vikki and Sarah are able to deliver, both having excellent singing voices themselves. Every so often a concert is organised to showcase new talent in the School and to provide pupils with performing experience.

The knowledge and confidence Sarah provides to the student as a teacher is invaluable. You can tell she works hard to find a style of teaching that works for each individual. Listening to what you want as a performer and helping you learn the best way to achieve it.I began taking lessons with a negative mindset having not really attempted to sing for over 5 years being too embarrassed to practice. I hoped I'd maybe be able to perform some easier songs that didn't require much range. This is something that was picked up on right away and without Sarah's help I would still be stuck in that mindset not able to sing the songs I love. Singing is now something I really enjoy rather than being frustrated by.

I saw an offer that Sing for Smiles were doing and bought one for my daughter to try. We had quite a few emails trying to sort out a date and time in which Sarah and Vicki were doing their upmost to accommodate us. We did get the day and time we needed which was really helpful. My daughter had a few lessons with Sarah and really loved them so we have decided to continue with them and are now doing once a fortnight. The under 16yr old lessons are 45mins and are £15, which is the best price in town I could find. But best of all Sarah is helping my daughter to sing properly and confidently. I would definitely recommend them.
