I really enjoyed my stay at The County Hotel. The staff were really friendly. I have a disability, and the staff were really helpful on my adjustment. I loved the room - Comfortable and quiet. The location was excellent - Right in front of the train station. Overall, I can’t fault anything. I loved the hotel. I will be coming back. I only went to the Hudson Bar for dinner on one evening, but would love to try the breakfast the next time I’m there.

I stayed here on business.Would I stay again yes for business, but not for a weekend with my wife. The room I had was noisy, due to the kitchen extraction system outside my window and the bathroom fan never switched off. I am not sure if I was given this room, due to me staying for work (cheap seats). I didn't have a look at any other room, so they may be better. The rooms are clean and the staff are very good.Great location, which is straight across from the train station. If you find my review helpful, please follow me as I have plenty more and always reviewing.

Room service was appalling, sandwiches were awful. Plus they charge and additional £5 on menu price to bring to your room!!!!! Breakfast freezing cold. The hotel itself is lovely and well situated

A nice weekend stay in central Newcastle. The hotel is old but quite good kept, rooms tidy and clean. Bathroom newly renovated. Some minor problems with contact and service at reception desk otherwise quite good.

Only given 3 stars overall due to noise outside. Yes, it was a Saturday night in the middle of the city but to still have 'partying' 'til 3 am was a bit much! Reception were sympathetic and said we should have requested a quieter room! On the plus side, very clean room with comfortable bed.

We stopped in one of there so called small double rooms. They are taking the p^#s.Fine, if you are now bigger than you were at birth. The small double bed was pushed up against the wall.We had a load of issues.Tv not workingKettle only worked if you kept finger on switch.Cold room with no temperature controls.Very thin duvet cover.Holes in pillow cases. The only room I could give stars to is the bathroom. It was a family sized room with bath. They should have made the bathroom smaller, with just a shower. And made the bedroom bigger to accommodate x2 normal sized humans.

Lovely building, shower not great, wifi poor. Bathroom shampoo and soap not the best. Fan supplied with the room was needed as very warm. Nice bedding. Squeaky flooring.Would go back just for the food.

Very, very disappointed. We have stayed here before he celebrated our decision to stay again. We arrived at 15:00 hrs as requested only to be kept the best part of thirty-five minutes to check in. It then took ten minutes to get a lift to our floor, one of the lifts being out of service. When we eventually entered our room we thought that we had gone into a closet what was worse was the bed, which was supposed to be a double was little more than a large single. We immediately complained a d were offered another room which was no bigger than the first but at least it had a double bed. It wasn't until we retired to bed that we realised the room was overlooking the kitchen extractors and air conditioning these machines droned all night as the ancient secondary double glazing was inadequate to prevent the noise. The bathroom was adequate but no shampoo or shower gels had been provided. In the evening we decided to go to the cocktail bar which is adjacent to the restaurant, we told a member of staff our intentions and was immediately advised that the restaurant was full, we explained that we were residents but were told in no uncertain terms that it made no difference. Having travelled over four hundred miles to get to this hotel we now had,to go off into Newcastle to find a restaurant. The final indignation was that the price of the room did not include breakfast. We have travelled all over the world and this is the first hotel that we have stayed at that does not include breakfast. Frankly all in all be would have been better off staying at a Travel Lodge. Probably one of the worst experiences we have had at a hotel

Great location for a city break - extremely convenient for the train station. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was well decorated and had the convenience of a mini bar and fridge. The hotel were putting up decorations for Christmas on the day I checked out and that really helped add a bit of sparkle to this beautiful old building. Staff were great. Will be back
