Directional Concrete Arrow
This is at the top (ish) of Brean Down and might make a good 'Hunt the Arrow' game for the kids. It was built as a directional arrow to guide airplanes to their practice ranges and was rather more obvious when painted white. It can be found close to the top of the (rather steep and irregular) steps (turn right) and close to the Military Road (which is a longer but easier walk).Probably not worth a visit on its own but something worth looking for when you're there.

im not sure if i can review or if the said location needs reviewing. its a concrete triangle. roughly put on the land joining emd of brran down. i have stood on it. it points in the direction aiming at hinkley point in bridgwater. its about 60 feet long and 30 fret wide. the reason its there is to help guide planes along time ago. dates1890s..its really just a bit of concrete on a hill top shaped like an arrow.

Well worth a visit. There are 2 ways to the top of the hill. A very steep concrete path which winds up the hill in a big hair pin, and a more direct set of steep steps. Superb views from the top. The concrete direction arrow is difficult to photograph from the ground so even in the strong winds I flew my drone a few metres up to take a photos. Any higher and it might have got blown away!

Great view over the bay, specially at the air show. If you can get on the ups i will fully recommend it. Maybe towards the right, towards the town for planes usually fly right over head. Great enviroment, lots of butterflys and a large array of grasses and other plants. I, again, would fully recommend it to all people who can get up the steps.

Nice bit of history, I'd like to see it painted white again, just to see it from a drone.

Lovely scenery and a good long walk but when we got there it was all taped off and obviously closed off for some reason... signs telling us it was closed would have been useful. Other than that it's a fantastic place to visit.

Fantastic Brean Down, well worth the strenuous climb from the car park, free for National Trust members, £5 otherwise. The directional arrow is one of many interesting WW2 artefacts, this used for bombers targeting practice. Only visited because we had read about it in Damien Boyd's excellent Nick Dixon detective series...

Worth climbing over 200 steep steps to get to the top of the hill. It was a fair weather day. I can't say that I would have been as enthusiastic had it been wet or windy, because Brean Down is very exposed to the elements. Give it a miss if you're not fit to walk up a 330ft high building (that's about 33 floors).
