The Cowshed Café
Nice place however we had to ask for our cake and another table had to ask for their tea that they had ordered. Looks like the menu will be changing and sounds good from the specials we saw. Unfortunately too late for anything than drinks and cake.

Sadly this was not a great experience. My husband & I went into the café at 4.10pm and we're told by the young server that as they close at 4.30pm we could only have a take-away. We asked why we couldn't stay in for a cup of tea and a piece of cake at which point, a senior member came out of the kitchen and said we could stay. To say the young girl had a strop on was to put it mildly. She clearly wanted an early get-away and we'd scuppered that! The whole time we were there she made us feel unwelcome. I did say thank you for the lovely cup of tea, but was met by a frosty stare. I'm sure this is not something that happens normally and perhaps we caught this young girl on a bad day. More training needed?

Service was slow, and my granddaughter wanted Beans on toast for lunch she's just turned 5. Now i understand that it was on the breakfast menu. My son and grandson had baked potatoes and beans, and my daughter in law had a toasted sandwich. Sorely, it's not that hard to toast 2 slices of bread and put the beans on them to keep a 5 year old happy.

So relaxing to sit either inside or outside. While we were there an elderly lady, with a walking frame came alone, the care and attention the staff gave her was heartwarming to witnesses. Bit pricey but definitely worth a visit. Parking can be restricted due to the other wonderful curiosity shops but you usually can find a spot

Visited several times for lunch or coffee and cake and found it a good experience but very dissapointed today. Order taken incorrectly so had to change it pannini was a bap toasted and nothing like a pannini. Salad garnish was not worth having and unlike before no homemade coleslaw or crisps included so over £8 for a sandwich was very expensive. Looked like the cafe had probably changed hands and sorry to say we will not be returning

We went in today for a quick lunch. The young lady and young man were lovely. They sat us upstairs as there was no seats downstairs. As soon as we walked in and was talking to the young darker haired waitress I could see the older lady with the dark hair just staring at me and my children. We felt so uncomfortable. She was stood behind the counter in such a foul mood with a terrible look on her face.We then ordered the food. As it was bought up to us, I asked if I could could have the plate change as my son has autism and doesn’t like his foods touching especially foods he doesn’t eat. It was my fault as I didn’t check that there was slaw with the J.potato it was the same dark haired lady along with the young boy who bought the food up to us. When I asked for another plate her face was like thunder she just stared at me in disgust, I felt terrible asking I also had to ask for some extra sour cream as the nachos were dry with a dot of sour cream, well I think I’d done it then, she didn’t come back up, the young boy came up with everything. He was so welcoming. Then we got attacked by a load of wasps I had a 9 and 12 year old with me so we didn’t really didn’t want them attacking us. The boy and young girl said tell us if they get too much and we come and try to remove them.I had to call down in the end and the other lady’s sat next to us had had enough too, the older blonde shorter haired lady came up, again not happy, it was like we was causing a problem for them. She said I’m sorry but our windows don’t open, I then said well can’t you open the hatch window as we was sat upstairs. She then said well the problem is I will ask the lady to move so I can open it.The lady was more than happy to move as the 7 wasps were over her head.We left half of our food and walked out, I just didn’t want to be there anymore, as we were leaving we was getting the most dirtiest looks from the older dark haired lady. The reason I didn’t say anything is because I was with my children. They both felt so uncomfortable and asked why she kept looking at us like that.We felt like we shouldn’t have been there! It’s a shame as I last visited about a year ago and it was ok then.Maybe bring brown skinned isn’t that welcomed at the cow shed! Great way to run a business. Very upset and shocked, won’t be stepping foot in there again.

I really enjoyed my visit to The Cowshed Cafe, where I met friends. We were able to sit outside and having ordered at the counter our food was brought to the table. The service was excellent. The coffee was quite good and whilst there was not a huge range of cakes the polenta cake that I had was very good. The cafe is part of an attractive complex which includes a farm shop. The nearby Anglo-Saxon Church is worth visiting and the site is near to the canal which offers pleasant walking.

Good place to go with friends or family, on a good weather day can sit outside, gets very busy inside, so seating can be limited, didn't have to wait too long for a table, staff very friendly and helpful, little shops on site and antique shops too, was a lovely way to spend your day.

What a cute little place hiding away! Beautiful interior with wooden beams. Very helpful and friendly staff. The best afternoon tea we've ever had! Huge pieces of cake! Coffee and tea included! Really nicely lay out with reserved for us on and beautiful tea cups plates and table cloth. All at only £20! All hand made by Emma. Thank you for a wonderful time for my mothers birthday!
